This was a GoPro final set of shots. Battery was flat and we found this Great Warty Frogfish at the end of a 111minute dive. Photo is taken with and without filter and No LCD back so bit of guess work. Still not bad for a Hero HD.

Difficult to describe but a wonderful sight, Montgomery Reef is a reef located off Western Australia's Kimberley coast. The reef is about 20 km (12 ml) off-shore opposite Collier Bay (to the south) and Doubtful Bay (to the east). It has a total area of 400 km2 (154 ml2) making it the largest inshore reef in Australia.

With a length of about 80 km (50 ml), the reef is subject to remarkable tidal movements to a maximum of 10 m (33ft). When the tide is out sandstone islets, vast lagoons and a central mangrove isle are revealed. The outward movement of the tide forms a torrent of water, creating a river cutting through the reef and hundreds of cascading waterfalls. At low tide more than 4 metres (13ft) of reef can be exposed.

Montgomery Reef and island were both named by the first European to sight the isle aboard Mermaid, Philip Parker King (1791-1856), while exploring the region in 1818. He named the island after Andrew Montgomery, ship's surgeon.

When the tide is out-going a series of cascading waterfalls are revealed which attract migrating wading birds, manta rays, feeding turtles, dugongs and black tipped reef sharks.

Snorkelling on Ningaloo Reef

A piece of a coral reef has packed up and left the ocean, bringing along a host of fish to keep her company. Are Florida's coastal waters that bad or did she simply want a change of scenery?

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Capitol Reef National Park is a United States National Park, in south-central Utah. It is 100 miles (160 km) long but fairly narrow. The park, established in 1971, preserves 378 mi² (979 km²) and is open all year, although May through September are the most popular months.

Called "Wayne Wonderland" in the 1920s by local boosters Ephraim P. Pectol and Joseph S. Hickman, Capitol Reef National Park protects colorful canyons, ridges, buttes, and monoliths. About 75 miles (120 km) of the long up-thrust called the Waterpocket Fold, extending like a rugged spine from Thousand Lake Mountain southward to Lake Powell, is preserved within the park boundary. Capitol Reef is the name of an especially rugged and spectacular park of the Waterpocket Fold near the Fremont River. The area was named for a line of white domes and cliffs of Navajo Sandstone, each of which looks somewhat like the United States Capitol building, that run from the Fremont River to Pleasant Creek on the Waterpocket Fold. The local word reef referred to any rocky barrier to travel[citation needed].

Only a few decades ago, Capitol Reef and the Waterpocket Fold country comprised one of the remote corners of the lower 48 U.S. states. Easy road access came only with the construction of a paved Utah State Route 24 through the Fremont River Canyon in 1962.
