Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
Capitol Reef National Park is a United States National Park, in south-central Utah. It is 100 miles (160 km) long but fairly narrow. The park, established in 1971, preserves 378 mi² (979 km²) and is open all year, although May through September are the most popular months.
Called "Wayne Wonderland" in the 1920s by local boosters Ephraim P. Pectol and Joseph S. Hickman, Capitol Reef National Park protects colorful canyons, ridges, buttes, and monoliths. About 75 miles (120 km) of the long up-thrust called the Waterpocket Fold, extending like a rugged spine from Thousand Lake Mountain southward to Lake Powell, is preserved within the park boundary. Capitol Reef is the name of an especially rugged and spectacular park of the Waterpocket Fold near the Fremont River. The area was named for a line of white domes and cliffs of Navajo Sandstone, each of which looks somewhat like the United States Capitol building, that run from the Fremont River to Pleasant Creek on the Waterpocket Fold. The local word reef referred to any rocky barrier to travel[citation needed].
Only a few decades ago, Capitol Reef and the Waterpocket Fold country comprised one of the remote corners of the lower 48 U.S. states. Easy road access came only with the construction of a paved Utah State Route 24 through the Fremont River Canyon in 1962.

Continuing our tourist trip to Cairns on our last full day in Australia we visited the Great Barrier Reef. This shot was taken from a glass bottomed boat taking a tour over the coral. Obviously this was taken through glass so the quality isn't that great but hopefully you still get an impression of the coral and the seabed.
Yolanda was the cargo ship carrying toilets, sinks, bathtubs and other building materials for the booming hotel and resort construction industry in Sharm el Sheikh. It didn't make it to the shore giving its name to a dive site.
Some small fish bask in the light on the shallow reef near Molokini, which is nicely reflected in the underside of the water's surface
The 3rd largest barrier reef in the world as seen from the sky. There are no resorts, but you can sleep on a boat or tent and do an overnight trip with diving. It's about 33 km west of Mindoro island.
This is as close as we got to the Barrier Reef - the Townsville Reef HQ Aquarium.
I like the dappled light.
