Hornsby/Ku-Ring-Gai District conducted a Hazard Reduction around Fiddletown today. The burn was approximately 75 hectares, from all reports the burn was successful. Much of the perimeter was only accessible by 4wd or foot.
Unfortunately 75% had been light by the time we arrived, and most of the activity was mopping up and patrolling.
It was good to actually renew a few friendships from years gone by. It’s great to get out and meet some of our followers. Please feel free to share and tag these photos with family, friends and Brigade members.

We're working on a set of 20-30 new pieces for an upcoming show in Denver. Appropriately, the show is all about anxiety and humor. Does that make it about hysteria?
UNISDR brought together in Cairo, from 22 to 26 April, over 40 participants from 15 Arab countries to participate in the Regional Workshop to Advance Disaster Risk Reduction in the Arab Region. The main aim of the workshop was to exchange regional experience, debate on the implementation of the Hyogo Framework of Action and discuss the national disaster losses databases as a critical tool for risk reduction. In the photos participants from Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates.

On Thursday, participants met in a plenary on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation, followed by general plenary statements in morning and afternoon sessions. An informal plenary on the implementation of the outcomes of the Mid-term Review of the Hyogo Framework of Action (HPA) continued for a second day as well as a number of roundtables on managing watersheds, children for resilience, DRR and gender, DRR safety nets and mountains of risk. Winners of the UN Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction were announced in an evening ceremony.

I have been working on a handful of photos of more mature women and performing digital age reduction on them. I hope it will emphasize to young girls that what they see in magazines is not always the real person. In less than an hour I can typically reduce someone's age digitally by 10 to 15 years with a few tricks.
It's not very apparent but I opted to increase the height of the intermediate shaft by adding 4 stacks of 3 washers to each of the 5/16 in bolts, between the frame and the two bearing housings. I also removed two links from the chain connecting the gear reduction to the intermediate shaft. This means the aluminum mounting plates that hold the gear reduction didn't have to be tilted back so much and that meant the trunk should slip on more easily.

Local Heroes combines, in the manner of the ancient Greek gymnasium, exercises of the body and the mind. For 4 months, MIMA is a temple of boxing and arts interacting with the visitor.
Local Heroes is a reinterpretation of the ancient Greek gymnasium: a place dedicated to the education of youth in the values of the city through sport and the arts. In this logic, the spaces in the exhibition are reserved either for the practice of boxing or for the celebration of local athletes. The whole is enhanced by artistic interventions born from the meeting between creators and boxers. Posters, photographs, videos and wall paintings are the favourite mediums in the aesthetics of boxing.
The choice of boxing is based on a historical, social and cultural reason. Firstly, the ancestor of boxing, pugilism, was widely practiced in gymnasiums throughout antiquity. Secondly, the boxing community sociologically reflects the youth of the Brussels city centre. Finally, compared to other sports, it is a major source of inspiration for the arts.
