Members of the Florida National Guard Counterdrug Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) program provided a drug education awareness class to more than 125 kindergarteners at Crookshank Elementary School in St. Augustine, Fla, Feb. 25. The DDR specialists talked to the young students about the harmful effects of tobacco and alcohol through the informational drug awareness program, “Night Vision.” After the program in the school, the students watched the Florida National Guard Aerial Reconnaissance Team (ART) land a Lakota UH-72A helicopter on the playground. Pilots of the ART team spoke to the kids about the Lakota helicopter and how the Florida National Guard Counterdrug program uses the helicopter to help federal agencies and law enforcement find drugs and ‘bad guys.’ Photo by Sgt. Sofia, six, carries her little sister Suada, 24 months old, to the Save the Children outreach center in Lagbogol, Kenya. Their mother left with their surviving livestock and Sofia is now in charge of looking after her sister.

Suada is malnourished and she, and her family, rely on the food and medicine they receive from Save the Children.

A lot of people from the area where they live have lost the livestock on which they depend for their livelihoods in the drought.

seriously, making so much noise past midnight is sinful, not just illegal. Blocking King's road and stranded at least 500 people from going home is just plain inconsiderate.

This is a shop window near the end of Sandown High Street shortly before the library. The shop is now empty but someone, with a good artist eye, has discovered some artifacts from the shops past and placed them in the window. I remember when it was a Clarks Shoe shop and a record store where you could buy LP records and vinyle singles from the 'hit parade' (five shillings for one single I think). Then it became a large Toy Shop. In the other window is a rather macarb display with bits of a doll and a white bench - very well done and could be in a gallery but it was a bright sunny day and the window reflections were so strong I couldn't get a decent image. Video commissioned by the record label Cronica, for the track "118(Reduction/Reflection)” from "Three-Body Problem” album by @C.

Project URL: visiophone-lab.com/wp/?portfolio=reductionreflection

Audio-reactive graphics, rendered in real-time on Processing. A group of particles are driven by a flow-field that reacts to sound's amplitude. Along the track the particles move around the screen with unpredictable paths generated by the sound inputs on the flow-field. Different types of visualizations are explored: the particles, the flow-field, and Voronoi cells created by the particles’ positions.

Created in Processing (works on v3), captured and recorder with Syphon. Voronoi cells made with Mesh library by Lee Byron.

Processing code here: github.com/visiophone/Reduction_Reflection

Inspired by: The "Nature of Code” by Daniel Shiffman (in fact this project started over the code example “FlowField” on chapter 6); ++ The amazing recent work of Raven Know with Voronoi, Particles, and other weird moving things.

Doctors of the World has launched a harm reduction project with Tanzanian institutions and the local community at the start of 2010.

As elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa, the underlying factors of poverty, migration, marginalization, lack of information and poor access to services raises the risk of HIV/AIDS spreading further. This project has opened a drop-in centre to provide quality prevention services and allow access to testing and counselling by building the capacity of the existing local services.
