EDITED version. Tried to reduce the green hue, from the mercury vapor lights or whatever.
Hard to believe Cheescake Factory didn't always have all these windows.
This building was Swanson's dept store for decades, then Mark Shale. There were no windows on this entire side--just that center area, under the "Cheescake Factory" sign, once the only window on this entire wall.
I once peeked in that "Baghdad" style window and saw the famous Plaza Christmas Lights, neatly laid out, in figure 8 twists, for the off-season.
Cheesecake Factory came to town about 1996-97.
Many times it's been very warm, even hot, for the Plaza Art Fair, but this year it was very nice. Just cool enough to wrap an infant, but adults could walk around in shirt sleeves.

Immigrant Health Initiative Seminar Series

University of Southern California
Steven Lopez, PhD
Professor of Psychology and Social Work,
Director of Culture and Mental Health Lab, USC
Defined by a loss of contact with reality, psychosis is a mental condition often associated with serious mental illness. Left untreated it can lead to poor treatment response, lower social functioning and worse symptoms.
Efforts to reduce the duration of untreated psychosis in communities have largely been unsuccessful. Steven Lopez, professor of psychology and social work at USC, presented formative research that examines the efficacy and effectiveness of a Spanish-language community education program to increase psychosis literacy among Latinos in both Southern California and Mexico. In addition, he presented the plans for a recently funded project to reduce the duration of untreated psychosis among patients in a local immigrant community.

The Bakersfield Field Office uses prescribed pile burning to manage vegetation and reduce wildfire risks in areas like Case Mountain, home to Giant Sequoias. Overly dense forests increase the risk of intense wildfires and reduce forest health.
Pile burning removes excess vegetation in a controlled manner, lowering fire fuels and promoting healthier forest conditions. This method is a critical tool to protect ecosystems, including Giant Sequoia groves, and reduce the likelihood of catastrophic wildfires.
These efforts ensure the long-term resilience of the forest and its unique ecological and cultural values.
