A 30+ years Restoration Project
In 1970 Kentwell stood neglected. No-one was prepared to take it on - except Patrick Phillips. He fell for this wonderful House in its magical setting and was not deterred by its condition. Ever since then he has, with his wife and family, sought to bring Kentwell back to life. Their works have taken part of the House and its 15th Century Service Building back to the 16th Century. Elsewhere changes reflect their own preferences. House, Gardens & Farm have an unrivalled ability to captivate the visitor.

You can do this whenever you come but especially if you visit during one of the award-winning Re-Creations of Tudor or WWII Everyday Life and (recently) Victorian life. Not a great city-goer, just one visit to Nottingham city centre since moving to Derbyshire. Experimenting with borders for flickr etc.
Women's Volleyball versus Loughborough. Covering the event for Redbrick. This was my first attempt at indoor sports and it really pushed my equipment to the limit. With the D80 set to ISO3200 and the lens at f/2.8 I could still only manage 1/200 of a second - just enough to stop the action!!!

Trivia: A Jann Arden video was shot in-and-outside of this building.
I swear every artist / musician / painter / graphic designer from these parts lived in this building, this or the President or the Lorraine.
It has since gone heavily "condo", and gentrified.

Following months of extensive refurbishment, the landmark redbrick Pierhead building on the National Assembly’s Cardiff Bay estate re-opened its doors on 1 March 2010 to take on its new role as a unique events and visitor attraction.

It was very interesting to see what kind of people one ran into at such a festival. I bumped into a friend from SOAS, and over the course of the day met several Japanese volunteers at the booths who were SOAS grads.
Somehow, I guess, maybe, I shouldn't be surprised. This certainly seems a very SOAS sort of thing.

The church is now a solicitors' office, but the Audley Chapel on the north side is open to the public under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
I think Pyper is beginning to question all the photos. Every time we have gone out this week I have been putting her up onto things, and into things, while I snap away. This week she has been on fence rails, on a tractor, on top of a log, in a hole in log, on a ledge by the pier and finally.. on a window sill (seen here). She is definitely giving me a 'look' like..."really?, NOW you want me to sit on a window sill" She's a good sport, but I think she has had enough.

Redbrick Books is a smallish bookstore on Page Boulevard in Springfield, MA. They sell new and used books, with an emphasis on used. They specialize in not specializing, so their stock can have some surprises. Expect the usual romance novels and self-help books, but they also have a lot of children's literature and some interesting coffee-table books. I never walk out empty-handed.
I think the building is probably an old machine shop.
Most of the books in their technical section are a little long in the tooth; expect that in the used-book market.
