Bøgevej 15 (built in 1914), 8260 Viby J.
Bøgevej is part of the Rosenvænget-district on the border between Viby and Aarhus. It runs almost parallel with Jyllands Alle, the "border-street".
Like many other streets in the Rosenvænget district, Bøgevej is extremely narrow and undulating, built in an era where cars were extremely uncommon.
From a registrant photowalk series made for the local historical society. The purpose of these walks is not to take photos of individual buildings, but rather to document the streets as a whole in order to preserve the views for future generations.
Some houses will inevitably be obscured behind fences and hedges. In such cases, there will be a photo of the hedge or fence in question. The photo will, of course, be rubbish, but it will accurately show the best possible view from a public road. Over the years, fences and hedges will come and go (as will the houses), sometimes improving the views, other times, the opposite. Also, in some cases, there's a choice between a (reasonably) unobstructed view, but poor lighting conditions, or a severely obstructed view, but better lighting.
I respect people's privacy and generally use the following guidelines...
I blur: license plates of private vehicles parked by private (1- or 2-family) homes, legible names on mailboxes, recognizable faces in fore- or middleground of a photo. I do NOT blur: license plates of commercial vehicles, license plates of private vehicles in traffic (unless in very prominent position), license plates of parked private vehicles by apartment buildings and shops, faces in the background of a photo. For the same reasons, some photos will be downloadable, others not... download (generally) enabled for: public buildings, generic views (streets, nature, events etc.), apartment buildings. Download disabled for: private homes (1- or 2-family), photos of special importance to me.

This tall redbrick pointed building with a green dome on top is known as St. Patrick's Tower built circa 1805. It is an old "smock" windmill, which has lost its four blade sails. On top is a four-foot high statue of St. Patrick - complete with mitre and crozier - if you look very closely you can just about see it.
This is the home to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the largest stadium venue in Ireland and following recent development, Croke Park now has capacity for 82,300 people, which makes it the fourth largest stadium in Europe! In addition to hosting Gaelic sports, this stadium has also hosted concerts for the likes of U2, Billy Joel, and Tina Turner. Croke Park even hosted a Muhammad Ali fight!
Look above the church spires and across Dublin Bay to the headland of Howth. It was amongst the rhododendrons on Howth Head that Leopold Bloom proposed to Molly Bloom in James Joyce's book Ulysses. Molly said yes seven times. She was very eager.
The new campus dorms have been built as a contemporary extension to the vision of Louis Kahn, the architect of the old campus. The red bricks intermingle with the bland cement to create a unique modernistic look with an old-world touch

Idealized statue of king Alfred the Great celebrating 1000 years since his death in 901. Winchester was his principal royal city. Typical Winchester trees and redbrick house. The statue looks as if it's the same material as Boadicea's statue in London - maybe pewter? Some rustfree alloy not bronze, anyway.

In 1897, a retired military man, Major Pawley, acquired the site. He built eight redbrick townhouses at great cost, and the highest of architectural standards. These are the buildings that make up the two Taj hotels today, Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences, and St. James’ Court A Taj Hotel.
London’s royal, cultural, political and social elite favored the location within walking distance of the Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, St James Palace, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.
In 1982, the Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces) acquired St. James' Court which was operated as the Taj Crowne Plaza London – St James for many years. The TataGroup converted and refurbished the old Crowne Plaza at 54 Buckingham Gate into the 342-room St. James Court, A Taj Hotel in 2014.
Taj Hotels Resorts andf Palaces is operated by Indian Hotels Company, which is owned by the TATA Group. The TATA Group also owns Jaguar, Land Rover and Tetley Tea. Effective 2021 Mehrnavaz Avari is the UK area director and general manager of the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences and St James Court hotel in London. Avari was previously deputy general manager of IHCL's Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. She graduated with a Masters of Management at Cornell University in New York and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She succeeds Digvijay Singh is general manager.
