As I was looking at, and photographing a woodpecker, My attention was drawn about a hundred yards away from my position by a Murder of Crows raising a ruckus! I know that when I hear a sound like that, there is more than likely a Red-tailed Hawk near by. In this case, it was two Red-tailed Hawks, and they were being harassed by three species of Corvidae; Crows, a Blue Jay and a couple Magpies. Didn't get a shot of the Blue Jay

Birding around Dead Creek seeking snowy owls

It was Hawks and Doves day in the neighborhood today! I haven't had any raptors sit for me in some time now, so I was was pleased to find two of my favorites!

I am pretty sure this is a red tailed hawk, resting on the golf course with what is left of a bird he took down. I took this on the dog walk. I'm glad we did not walk earlier. I know hawks gotta eat but I prefer not to witness the carnage.

Not quite sure if these two were performing their mating ritual as I did not actually see them touch but they made quite a display.

This is one of my absolute favorite raptors that we have here in the Southeast.

I had just dropped my son off at tennis and I come across this carnage. Of course I do what any flickrite would do, I pull over. I have a six wheeled diesel pick up truck. I had traffic going around me for about twenty minutes. Always have your camera with you. Heh heh
