The theme for the day was 'Birds with Yellow'. From lots or mostly yellow to a little yellow. This bird counts because when it comes to prey on that will fight back, it turns yellow! :)

I took my walk today a mile or so east of where I normally walk. I've been wondering where all the Red-tailed Hawks were this summer. Looks like I should have been walking east instead of west!

This is the second of four hawks in the tree - the one we were following. Moments after I took this shot it dropped the rabbit - and took off flying. It screeched for at least 5 minutes. He was NOT a happy camper!

This is the same hawk I photographed a week ago at Hell's Gate SP. Persistence paid off and I got some better photos. My feeling is this is a dark morph juvenile, but I'm open to opinions.
My wife and I have just returned from a great 5-week coast to coast trip to the United States, taking in south and north Florida, South Carolina and northern California. Here are just a small selection of wildlife pictures that I have brought back.
The final stage of our journey ended in northern California but it was split into two locations: San Ramon in Contra Costa County and Napa Valley. This shot was taken close to the small town of Napa in California's wine country.
