An older shot taken in jpeg into challenging light that exceeds my ability to edit properly…..but I just had to post it….
Red tailed hawk on a perch at the Lindsay Wildlife Hospital in Walnut Creek for his daily airing. He incurred a permanent wing injury that will prevent him from ever returning to the wild.
Been trying to capture one of these for a while. Today this one decided to cooperate for a few minutes.
Red-tailed Hawk about 1/2 mile from my home in Michigan. It was a rare, beautiful, February morning, creating a front-light capture.
I went back to November of '09 to get a shot from the most exciting hawk encounter I've been able to photograph. I've prepared this shot for rendering in a drawing. I'll post shots of my drawings soon. Here's the description I posted with this bird...
"I was moving to get a shot of the South Platte River. My attention was focused on the river, when I caught flight movement next to me. I figured it was a pigeon! I turned to look and found this about ten feet away from me!!! I wondered why it stayed so close to me while I fumbled to get my camera up and shooting! After I got these close-in shots, it flew a short distance to a bridge where I got some more shots. Then it flew off and I turned around to find a dead pigeon right at my feet!!! If I'd have stepped backward, I'd have stepped on it! I took one shot of it, but I don't think I'll post it. I've never been this close to any raptor!"
