Golden Gate Park, San Francisco

I'd much rather he was in a tree, but it's a fact of bird life nowadays - they just love perching on man-made things!

One creature I search for on my Pennsylvania visits is the little Red Squirrel. They are always up in the tops of the trees and too far for pictures. This Red-tailed Hawk was searching for squirrels also but the Gray ones were his targets. I watched him attempt to catch one but it scampered away too quickly. We were both in the same boat....missing out targets :)

Vineland Cemetery , Clarkston, Asotin County, Washington, USA

A pair was circling around in a way which I suspect is courtship. Not easy to get a pic with both of them in it though. Fast little ones. The one with the lowered legs may be the male (?)

Vocalizing to a single crow harassing it.

My, what a small head you have, BR!

First Year Red-Tail gives a critical eye to my car going around the loop road. I'm pretty sure it was the same red-tail on that tree each time I went around - there seemed a sense of ownership - but I can't rule out a different light phase first year red-tail.

This red-tailed hawk was watching the wood frogs in the main vernal pool at Robin Hood Park, Keene, NH

Another "what are you doing here" encounter with this Red-tail with the inevitable "lift off" shot ensuing!
