Le soir du 9 avril, je m'équipe de mon appareil photo et part rôder sur la Place de la République où le mouvement "Nuit Debout" prend de l'ampleur. Ce soir là, discussions et festivités sont au rendez-vous, mais certains manifestants un peu plus énervés plongent la Place et bientôt les rues parisiennes dans une violente fumée rouge.

The Red Arrows performed this roll trailing red smoke in tribute to their fallen colleagues, Flt Lt John Egging and Flt Lt Sean Cunningham, both tragically killed in the last year.
Flight Lieutenant John Egging was killed at the Bournemouth Air Festival 2011 shortly after the end of the Red's performance. A memorial, designed by local schoolchildren has been placed on the cliff top near the airshow flight line in his memory.
Played around with incense again. Used a red gel over pop up flash.
This is tough. Only managed some usable shots. This one was noisey but I liked the shapes.
Hope this one puts those who are out of commission today into good spirits

My German introduced me to Kat Frankie a while ago and ever since then I've been pleasantly enthralled. Her lyrics hit home in the most genuine way possible and her technique in one word is fascinating. I encourage you all to look up her YouTube videos (that I've linked here and are all over the interwebz). I sincerely hope to see her live sometime while I'm in Europe next semester.
In other news I purchased a set of colored smoke bombs this afternoon. My brother and I tentatively lit the red one for this shoot and the experience quickly became another bullet point on my growing list labeled "Why Chelsea is Destined to be a Pyromaniac."
Also, I can't believe I'll be done with this project in a week.

Students marched from Malet Street in the 3rd of a series of angry and violent protests against tuition fee increases and maintenance grant cuts. The march quickly broke into sections leaving the agreed route and using side streets to avoid being kettled.
At Westminster groups of activists used fencing and barrticades to attack police lines and to break into the treasury before moving into central London where they attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and his wife Camilla and causing other damage to shops and businesses.

A ghoul standing inside of a field of red smoke with burning flames beside him and the Halloween theme playing in an oh so sinister fashion.
No photoshop was used here, this is how it really looked/looks. People slow down and stop to see this yard as the creative guy who lives here decorates every year for halloween and christmas.

For the final performance of both days of the Air Show, the Royal Air Force Red Arrows made an appearance to perform various manoeuvres and displays both with the nine aircraft involved and the smoke trails, often coloured by red or blue dye. The planes here make their initial flypast over the crowds at the coastline before the main display began.

My first attempt at smoke art (thanks to Jim Helge for inspiring me to try).
I probably took a different path in my attempt, and it was fun to test this art out.
I set up the smoke, and used Lumiquests colored gel filters to get the red color. Probably not the best approach, as its noticable at the background which also turned red.
Gonna do some new attempts but with a different background (used black cardboard), black cotton carpet next
