Alum Rock Park, founded in 1872, was the first municipal park in the U.S. state of California. Located in a valley in the Diablo Range foothills on the east side of San Jose, the 720 acre (2.9 km2) park offers 13 miles (21 km) of trails, varying from fairly level along Penitencia Creek to sharp switchbacks climbing to the ridges to the South Rim Trail and the North Rim Trail. The narrow floor of the valley includes a visitor center, a small museum/animal rehab facility, picnic areas, playgrounds, lawns, sand volleyball pits, mineral springs, lush plant life, woodlands, creek play opportunities, and occasional group camping.
The ridge trails offer views of Santa Clara Valley and of the valley in which the park is located. Some trails in the park are a part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail; the Todd Quick trail connects with the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority's 1,600-acre Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve
This truck adorns the corner outside the Redneck Gourmet Restaurant in Newnan, Georgia. This west Georgia town is not known for snow, so when it happens I try to document it in my way.
*Green and Yellow Bright Mullet-y Wig* Again, one I found on sale, this time after St. Patrick's Day. Better quality Halloween style wig. While I didn't know what I would use it for when I bought it, I see a lot of potential in a Redneck Joker with it. ("Why so serious, y'all?") [ $5.00 ]
I wish I could have gotten a better photo of this. An old rickety pickup was hauling this huge pontoon boat to the ramp. There were about 6 guys with fishing poles riding in the pontoon boat and drinking beer while the thing was still on the trailer. Git - r - dun.
What I like is how proud Leah seems to be of being topless. She is becoming a little too aware to get away with it.
The redneck bug reppelent set up, while working on the new addition. Not pretty but it got the job done.
We sometimes find moose antlers in the bush that have been shed over the winter by moose (and we also keep the ones from the moose that we've hunted over the years) and we've found that in addition to making great garden ornamentation, the dogs also love chewing on them. Here's Abby trying out her first one.
Got a lot of notoriety when it opened and periodically a little flack, but appears to be still in business. Didn't see anyone entering or leaving but it was a quiet afternoon on the square.
While I had heard of it, I didn't realize this was the building it was in. I just thought at first it was the old movie house when I saw the marquee and walked over to take a picture.
