The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is the largest of the true foxes and one of the most widely distributed members of the order Carnivora, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, North America and Eurasia.
A beautiful red fox hid in the grasses at the edge of the highway ... almost . . . but not quite successfully blending in with the surrounding fall colours.
On our last trip to Yellowstone, we were able to get up close and personal with a red fox hunting on three occasions. This was the best of the three.
We were able to shoot this fox on his hunt for a good 20 minutes while he sometimes approached within 20 feet of our location and was completely oblivious to our presence.

I saw a fox come walking thru our yard but when I went out the front door with the camera the fox started galloping across the street. Must be a red fox: "This fox usually has reddish fur on its back and sides, with a white belly and chest. The legs are black and the tail has a white tip. " No invites to new groups please.
