It may have been a rainy trip, but it was still an enjoyable Minimoon to Wales, and despite the dark days, we did get some photography done.

......to contemplate roses is to punctuate one’s days with poetry.” -Anne-Sophie Rondeau, The Grand Rose Family
Northern cardinals (Cardinalis cardinalis) are songbirds with crests on their heads and orange-red, cone-shaped bills. Males are a brilliant red color except for a black mask on their face. Females are shades of light brown, with reddish highlights and dark coloration around their eyes and beak. Cardinals get their bright colors from the pigments found in berries and other plant materials in their diet. Cardinals are medium-sized birds, with the male being slightly larger than the female. Cardinals are year-round residents within their range. During mating season males are fiercely territorial, driving off competing males in their territory. Cardinals are considered monogamous, mating with the same partner each breeding season. Pairs of male and female cardinals remain with each other year-round. Pairs usually do not stray very far from each other. The cardinal is a very popular bird and has been named the state bird of 7 states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.

A large, long-tailed gamebird. Males have rich chestnut, golden-brown and black markings on body and tail, with a dark green head and red face wattling. Females are mottled with paler brown and black. They were introduced to the UK long ago and more recent introductions have brought in a variety of races and breeds for sport shooting.
my first effort in using the pulp leftover from juicing: red flannel hash, made with beet, carrot, and cabbage pulp, cooked with sliced onions, garlic, and diced fingerling potatoes, and seasoned with thyme, salt, and pepper. i placed the hash into individual crocks, cracked an egg in each one, and baked until set.
