So far, our battery recycling program at work has collected nearly 500 batteries. :) This is from the latest batch.

I took a break from my work to make this desk-set. Made from recycled cans. Used vintage sheet music and a vintage hankie to cover the cans. Then used some vintage trim and buttons for embellishing. Used a vintage greeting card for the flower, trimmed with a little touch of vintage German glass glitter. So much fun--but now it's back to organizing my craft room.

This card was inspired by sneak peek #2 heroarts.com/blogs/club/2009/11/13/hero-arts-2010-catalog.... I love the tranquil, natural look of the peek and the gorgeous colours.

I must have been in recycling mode for this card! A while ago a friend gave me books of upholstery fabric samples so I used a couple of these fabrics on this card. The Happy Wishes image is stamped on a linen type fabric using distress inks and the bottom panel is a strip of faux suede. All of the buttons are recycled off old clothes and the twine is recycled too. I used the emboss resist technique on the top panel using white ep and shabby shutters and broken china distress ink. Finished off the card with some machine stitching.

I was visiting DoES Liverpool yesterday, and got to see in the flesh these awesome recycled flowers made by Jackie Pease. If you look at her Instagram you'll see them lit up, but when I visited they looked wonderful just as they are in the defused sunlight.

I regret not standing slightly further back for this one to get slightly wider context, but I'm really pleased with how the natural lighting worked on this one.

Slightly Dangerous, but very beautiful Wall Art. These Angel Wings are not for wearing. The site has pictorial tutorial for the construction of these. Recycle those cans without driving to a junkyard.

Today we recycled our old mountain bikes at a place called Recycle. This is a charity which recycles old bikes and send them out to Africa. My old Raleigh will be on it's way on Friday.

That's a lot of Rainier. Item 171453, Engineering Department Photographic Negatives (Record Series 2613-07), Seattle Municipal Archives.

Ok, dista mucho de los que están bien hechos, pero es un primer intento, aunque creo que no vaya a volver a hacer uno (mucho trabajo :D). Muchas gracias al tutorial de Stefanie.

A shot inside the tins and cans recycling bin in the flats where I live. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing one of the local shops have a Strongbow offer on recently...

Has taken a few months but finally finished the 11 large canvasses that will be taking up residence in various places around the UK. The idea with a touring gallery is that it brings art to people in the workplace who may not ordinarily have a chance to visit galleries, providing an alternative to corporate 'art'.

Apart from the paint, the materials used for this project are made from recyclables, plastic and paper, that have been upcycled into works of art.

Super rare white Cascade Cart at the Waste Management yard in Kennewick! They actually had quite a few back in this little hidden corner of the yard! They used these for paper recycling at schools back in the 90's!

Small quilt (106cm x 85cm - 42 x 33.5 inches) made from recycled, salvaged and thrifted cotton and linen.

The real colours are better than the photo but it is too rainy now for another picture!

My students made these for a Recycling Festival. They are super cute if you make the bottle lids like pig noses (2 black circles) and glue on some googly eyes. We called them, "The Cheer leading Piggy's". We also poked holes in the bottom of the "upper piggy's" so that the water drains out and feeds the lower piggy's. This way you're recycling Plastic bottles, chop sticks AND water!

There's only one place in north-(ish) Cumbria where you can take plastic for recycling - Eden Community Recycling at Penrith. Penrith also hosts a jolly good car boot sale/market, so once we've filled the space under the back stair with plastic bottles we take a trip to Penrith, unload the plastics, and go searching for bargains at the car boot sale. A pleasant way to spend a Saturday, even if it rains.
