This dolphin sculpture is made from recycled trash found along the beaches and shorelines in the surrounding area. It is part of an exhibit commissioned by the Texas State Aquarium from local artists and groups to highlight the problem of litter, especially on the very busy beaches. To us it is just an eyesore, to sealife it can be life ending.
Lovely little containers made from recycled milk cartons (one open so you can see inside) sitting on my hat made from recycled PET bottles and a Fair Trade magazine holder.
Recycled from old Calor gas canisters & beer kegs, converted to B&W to add some menacing drama to the scene
For 120 pictures in 2020 #111 "Upcycled", This garden ornament is made from recycled scrap metal. It is fairly old and in desperate need of repainting, but it still stands ready to remove garden pests from our plants (this is an aloe vera our neighbor gave us - still need to make a proper garden plot for it).
These CD's I have recycled from the library when they were cleared out last year. Now they are adorning my Nashi Pear tree trying to deter the parrots from eating the almost ripe fruit. As they blow in the wind and reflect the sun at odd times perhaps the movement is scary.
So I was out running errands and spotted this! If I was a true recycler, I would have scooped it up to reuse- right?
For the MM theme of arrow for 5/27 (Memorial Day)….. I think I’m going with this SOOC shot just because it’s simple and blue and sparkly and advocates recycling.
Size verification - (later) the whole thing including the blue background is approximately 1.8cm… see the first comment box in a little bit

Btb, I am sorely tempted to lighten this up but that takes it out of the SOOC realm!

Older widebody airliners awaiting their fate in the hands of the recycling teams, all parts are salvaged and reused in one way or another
Not great ideas for Smiling on Saturday, just a modest pot-holder made by me recycling an old shirt of my husband, an easy work thanks to the chequered design ;-)

This is one of several throw pillows that i made using old t-shirts. I made them a few years ago, as Chrisrmas gifts for relatives. This is the only one that i saved.
Shared for Smile on Saturday theme: Recycled.
If it can’t be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt,
refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled, or composted,
then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production.

Happy Bench Monday...
on average 8 million tones of plastic finds it's way into the ocean each year and it never goes away, it breaks down eventually, but even then the pellets that it becomes is in turn eaten by the marine life. We need to do more than recycle, we need to stop using plastic containers and being a throw away society.
Give it some thought, don't put your lunch in a baggie, put it in a glass container. Bring a thermos of water, not a bottle, and buy beer in bottles, not cans.... :-) (due to the plastic thingy that binds them)
dashing to work now, blow it up and check out the beautiful and awful mural.
CN R967, the "Recycle", heads north into the city with a single empty centerbeam from Cook County Lumber near Fordham. A repainted IC GP40R and a GTW GP38-2 give it the works.
When I visited Leigh Woods two weeks ago, this little family of mushrooms were busily devouring a fallen tree
One of my lockdown projects last year. Our yoga mats needed new bags as the ones supplied with the mats were falling apart. I found this idea of using old jeans online and reused the original drawstrings and carrying handles so the only new item I needed to make these was the sewing thread.
