Salvation Army clothing recycle bins - a little contrast adjusted for a dramatic effect.

This set of four coasters was made from one clean recycled t-shirt that belonged to my husband. I cut the shirt into thin strips and crocheted this great set of 4 inch wide coasters

I noticed these bins all over Puerto Vallarta and on the beach. The thing is- I don't know that too many people use them. It's good to see that Mexico is taking a step towards recycling, I just hope that it works. There is still an awful lot of trash along the roads and highways...

Recycling in China seems to be big business (at least lots of people are involved in it). This guy had his bike full of plastic and polystyrene.

We went and stayed at ben's folk's beach house last week. Ben's father is an artist. Here you can see one of his paintings, as well as his recycled art sculpture made from plastic things he's found and collected on the beach. It grows bigger each time we see it!

These recycling bins are located all over the biology building. We try our best to recycle as much as we can.

They are chopping it up into chunks for recycling, rather than taking it apart for reuse. The Japanese preference for recycling runs deep. When Westerners look at a copper or plastic T-pipe they see a T-pipe, whereas Japanese see a piece of copper, or plastic respectively.

Westerners are more likely to say 3 is the odd one out, whereas Japanese are more likely to say that the copper t-pipe, which is just a piece of copper to them, is the odd one out. Identity resides for the in the content rather than the form of existence. I think thus is also why the Japanese can, and do, insult themselves and their loved ones verbally but not stand on a picture of their own face.
