These CD's I have recycled from the library when they were cleared out last year. Now they are adorning my Nashi Pear tree trying to deter the parrots from eating the almost ripe fruit. As they blow in the wind and reflect the sun at odd times perhaps the movement is scary.

Well in this instance , recycling !! Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 04/01/25 -- Seasonal !!
So here we are with a random shot of a recycling bin left out for the dustman after the Christmas festivities and obviously a seasonal bi-product is the amount of rubbish and recycling that is generated by many - next week it will be proper rubbish to be collected and I wonder how full to overflowing the black bins will be . I am glad to say as a rule my green bin is usually full but not overflowing and the black bin is usually no more than two thirds full or less . I did note this year that most folk left their bins out on the usual day only for it not to be collected !! There is always an alteration to collection times this time of the year so that the bin men get time off for the bank holidays !!
So for our music this week , it has to be a track from an album called " Recycler " !
First the electric version , then the wooden version from the film and then ZZ Top talking about playing on the film !!

Older widebody airliners awaiting their fate in the hands of the recycling teams, all parts are salvaged and reused in one way or another
New Jersey’s fifteen-mile-long Rahway Valley was another short line that took advantage of the ICC incentive per diem boxcar rates of the late 1970’s. By the mid-1980’s, the rules were again changed, and many of the IPD owners were stuck with cars that were not being used. For some reason, the Lake Erie Franklin & Clarion picked up some of the RV cars, patched them, and put them in service, as seen here at East Penn Junction, Pennsylvania.
Not great ideas for Smiling on Saturday, just a modest pot-holder made by me recycling an old shirt of my husband, an easy work thanks to the chequered design ;-)

Today I made a fragrant sachet from some of our dried lavender plants and recently purchased trims, applied to a recycled white scarf and a patch of luscious wool from a vacation in Maine.
Will be sending this off to my oldest living childhood friend in Pennsylvania with birthday wishes and appreciation for our 68 years of staying in touch!
Interesting concept:
"The meaning of life is not to be discovered only after death
in some hidden, mysterious realm;
on the contrary,
it can be found by eating the succulent fruit of the Tree of Life
and by living in the here and now
as fully and creatively as we can."
~Paul Kurtz~
(I wonder how Mr, Kurtz can be so sure of this! Definitely something to ponder! Whatever, I do try to live fully and creatively in the here and now!)
I do know that my sister's dearest friend, who passed away only last week, was guiding me through the garden yesterday with serendipitous inspirations! As I placed a gorgeous pink hydrangea next to our flamingo, I had NO idea Janet was crazy about such whimsical garden sculptures! My sister was in disbelief when I forwarded a pic to her, along with an amazing poem on Flamingo Spirit!
Happy Bench Monday...
on average 8 million tones of plastic finds it's way into the ocean each year and it never goes away, it breaks down eventually, but even then the pellets that it becomes is in turn eaten by the marine life. We need to do more than recycle, we need to stop using plastic containers and being a throw away society.
Give it some thought, don't put your lunch in a baggie, put it in a glass container. Bring a thermos of water, not a bottle, and buy beer in bottles, not cans.... :-) (due to the plastic thingy that binds them)
dashing to work now, blow it up and check out the beautiful and awful mural.

Ever wonder what happens to your recycling? Well, we found out and now you know. Michigan charges a deposit on all pop cans, so they don't end up in these bundles. I wish other states would initiate deposits on pop cans. Our states would be a lot cleaner.
Separate bins for three streams of recycling waste at the Chowrasta Market in Georgetown, Penang.
Looking at the clean white paint of the wall behind, and contrasting that to the ubiquituous mouldy walls elsewhere, I surmised that this paint must be mould-proof.
