While walking about in Interlaken, Switzerland, this 'pig' made from what looks to be a recycled milk can, caught my eye.. (12-09-26-3246)

In the photo above, Sacred Heart Catholic Church salvaged the 11 piece marble crucifixion scene behind the altar from Saint Liborius Catholic Church in Saint Louis. The hanging interior light fixtures and bells from exterior tower were also salvaged from same church for use in this church. Eureka, Missouri.
This week St. Louis landscape lost Saint Bridget of Erin Catholic Church to demolition. It has been reported that some artifacts will be salvaged like stained glass windows and tower bells. See photos in comments below.
Shopping cart, recycling can, tons of filth. The bowl at Swift is pretty fucked. Click "All Sizes" to get a closer look at all the fuck floating around in there.
Now that it's just the two of us, I take the garbage out every other week whether it needs it or not. :-) Thus, what you see here is the result of 2 weeks accumulation.
This photo should represent a good mix of landfill-destined garbage and recyclable garbage - the entire pile is AKA "solid waste." You can see that the volume of recycles exceeds the volume of disposable waste. Over 50% recyclables by volume, about 40% recyclables by weight.
Recycled paper in paper bags, no pizza cardboard (grease is BAD in recycled paper) and no wax coated papers. For City of Beloit curbside pickup, the recycle paper goes right to the Beloit Box Board pulp vat, never leaving the city. Unsorted, co-mingled plastic/metal/glass recycles go to a local recycling center. It used to be you had to watch your plastic types for recycling but nowadays just about any hard plastic is acceptable in the bin.
From what I've read, glass waste is the most problematic recyclable material. While plastic recycling technology is very advanced and thorough.
At least that's how recycling was explained to me last year.
Dumpster divers, looking for aluminum in our recycling bin are going to be disappointed. There isn't any. We don't buy much of anything in aluminum cans.

This cave yeti just woke up and made its first steps into the bright new day. Just look at its blinking pair of eyes and you can see that it needs some more beauty sleep.
I quit smoking for more than thirty years ago.
Coincidentally, I found my old photo in which a candle was a smoke-wreath. It reminded me of the time when I smoke and I decided to combine the cigarette and smoke.

I love using old glass bottles to display flowers, fresh from the garden.
I find however, that mini glass bottles (recycled from supermarket juice bottles) used on their own can be wobbly at the best of times ... so in order to make these little glass bottles more stable, I decided to join several together, simply by wrapping them with twine!
To make these "Easy As" Mini Glass Vases:
1) Place (a minimum of two) mini glass bottles side by side
2) Wrap twine around the outside of all your mini glass bottles (If joining more than two bottles you will probably need another pair of hands to help you hold the bottles.)
3) Wrap twine tightly between each of the bottles (enough to stop the glass from touching)
4) Fill your new vase with water and flowers and enjoy :)

Hubcaps and wheel covers that are found on the roadside make terrific art! After cleaning grease and grime away, I paint with acrylics directly onto the "canvas". My designs include flowers, sun faces, faux stained glass and seasonal images.

This is a stranded boat that was to be used on Inner Farne but after rough seas on the Farne Island nature relocated to one of the other islands.
It has now been recycled by nature and is now used by the birds of nesting.
In July 2010, Gwinnett County (GA) begain a new waste program with 5 pick up zones. Each zone was given to a different hauler. Also, a nex recycle program that accepts 35 different items for recycling. So the little bins dont cut it anymore. I got this old trash cart from a friend that didnt use it anymore and placed the recycle logos on it. And works great since recycling is picked up with a RL. More pics of my new recylcing contaners to come!
