Also making an appearance was the National Guard sponsored #88 NASCAR driven by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Earnhardt has been voted by fans as NASCAR’s most popular driver for 10 consecutive years.

The Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion hosts a Media Roundtable on several U.S. Army Recruiting topics Aug. 30 at the Harrisburg Opportunity Center in Harrisburg, PA. Topics included Pinnacle recruiting, year-end recruiting numbers, unemployment and its effect on local recruiting, benefits and opportunities through the Army and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). Panel members (right) were the ROTC Blue Mountain Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Peter Lugar, who is also the professor of military science at the Dickinson College, the Harrisburg Recruiting Company Commander Capt. Eric Sutton, the Harrisburg Recruiting Company 1st Sgt. Nathan Billips and the Harrisburg Opportunity Center Assistant Commander Staff Sgt. James Slough. Future Soldiers were also on hand to give their personal views on why they joined the Army (left) Michael Nieves, Ryan Blong and James Riley. The Maryland National Guard Recruiting Battalion held its annual Warrior Challenge Competition July 21-22, 2013 at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation, Md. Participants are part of the Recruiting Sustainment Program representing recruiting’s three task forces. Recruits range from newly enlisted members to recent Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training graduates. Soldiers were involved in a two-day competition of five events focusing on warrior tasks and drills. Maj.
