Taken on our walk this morning. The paths are very muddy after the recent snow and rain!

The beautiful colours of the Australian outback. This shot was taken near Cooper's Creek/Windorah Qld on a recent trip to Birdsville Qld.

Looking forward to catching up with all of your images :-)

September Impressions

So many dew drops surround me

I search for the sun, but it can't be found.

the countryside still slumbers, perhaps not,

It's awake,

it watches me,

I don't know.....(...)

....(...) my thoughts fly lightly away

I'm almost afraid they'll get lost....(...)

My recent return trip to the Lofoten Islands was a bit of a mixed bag, weather wise. The first two days were beautiful like this, then the storms arrived, one after the other. Extreme storm force winds, rain, sleet, snow and very little sunshine. Fortunately we still managed to get out and about in between the worst of the weather. This is near the small village of Flakstad, a favourite location of mine.

Peak period on Sydney harbour.

Last Saturday night at McMahons Point Wharf.

Saturday 12th October, 2024.

Part of my recent dusk walking tours around the harbour.

Lately I have been parking the car along Blues Point Road, and walking down to the harbour.

A catamaran had just picked up more wedding guests from the McMahons Point Wharf, and was embarking on its dusk wedding cruise.

Meanwhile, the 'John Nutt' ferry - coming from Darling Harbour - was just about to dock at McMahons Point Wharf, to collect passengers going to Luna Park (Milsons Point) and then under the bridge to Circular Quay.

The 'John Nutt' is Sydney's newest ferry, commencing service in July, 2024. It is one of the new Parramatta River Class of catamarans. John Nutt was an engineer who was chiefly responsible for constructing Sydney's Opera House.

During a recent brief visit to Hong Kong we walked past the Hong Kong Museum of Art. An interesting building, currently under renovation, but I was attracted by its exterior and the strong contrast with the early morning sun peeping through. An unexpected moment.

Hand engraved Damascus steel. My new wedding band.

To spend the morning in the rainy woods and the afternoon editing photos in a cozy study... a perfect fall day.

A recent colour neg acquisition showing 45006 departing from Newton Abbot, the sleeve in which the neg came had written the loco, location and a date, but this must be incorrect as it showed 09/08/87, which 11 months after the loco was withdrawn. Maybe I misread, or it was mis-written on the sleeve (which I've now disposed of) and unfortunately the Rail Gen archive doesn't have an entry for 09/08/82. Still a lovely shot though.

A friend was promoted last year and received a "new" office, filled with stuff left behind by a now retired professor. This Hermes 3000 typewriter was left in that office and needed a new home, so after a stopover for a cleaning and mechanical overhaul, it now lives with me. It was made in 1964, in Switzerland.

The recent stormy weather has brought down a good share of the leaves from the Japanese maple in front of our building. It was a dark and rainy day.

Isn't God a great artist? Thanks for looking!

Last night my Dell PC was very suddenly broken... just can see black on display, no any error code no logo. So today I did all photo data rescue, because recent 3 years photo data was in the PC only, not backed up in others. Now I safely finished rescue all the data.

Please be sure data back up!!

Here is my monthly non long exposure shot. While many of us would like to have seen more sea fog at the Golden Gate in recent months, there have been a few key events to marvel at. It's a very simple phenomenon, to be sure, but makes for interesting photography, nonetheless.

The thing with this moment (and do mean moment) was the way the hill just seemed to grow a fuzzy wool sweater of fog.

Thanks for having a look!

I've been in a Mario mood lately on account of my recent purchase of a Wii U. So here's the Koopa King. By the way, I built him in his "Paper Mario" colors - bright orange skin, yellow horns, etc...

A recent return trip to Cotter to try and capture a scene that has eluded me previously. The transformation of this idyllic waterfall through the seasons is something special. Accompanied and inspired this time by my good friend Jim, i set about trying to capture the falls from more unusual angles. Some extremely slippery rocks nearly cost Jim his 6D but a cracking save resulted in only some bruised ribs and very wet feet! As ever thanks for viewing. Nearly the weekend :0)

We were just on a regular daily walk not far from where we live. Sometimes on our walks there, you see a nice tree, hear a bird or two, and that's it. On this day, we saw pretty cool things. A moose. A coyote. Some geese perched high on a rocky outcrop. All under gleaming blue skies. Some days are magical!

Thanks to the recent rains, the hills and fields of Chatsworth have come alive...

This is a shot of the Roberto Clemente Bridge at night, from a recent photowalk. It was about 5°F that night, and I was stopping into every other little store I passed to warm up!! That is PNC Park where the Pittsburgh Pirates play on the left.

I don't mind invitations, but please no big, shiny, flashing, glitter graphics, they will be deleted. Thanks!
