Sometimes I think we are all guilty of allowing perfection to erode confidence when in the expression of art, in its many, sometimes in fact, its infinite forms, that one is disillusioned until the abridging of expression and allowance of imperfection is somewhat lost, entangled in the needy concentration of being so particular, so acute and if I dare so maddening toward oneself, that the real picture of the moment as was is completely lost.

I took this daytime long exposure and I hated it, so many technical mistakes, unsteady camera, over-exposed, motion blur, blah, blah, blah and more bloody blah. But then I slapped it into Monochrome and instantly I was reminded of the sense of the timelessness, that the moment was trying to convey. After all, was the Heron bothered, does the water stop flowing, does the day stand still, absolutely not. So I was left with a sense of realisation that this is what it is, and therefore, should be allowed to breathe as such.

In reference to Miserere Mei, this is one of my favourite pieces by the Oxford Chamber Choir and this image reminded me of it, I've popped the link down below; anyhow, we're nearly there my friends, I trust everyone has a great weekend, sorry this was so long winded, but as always, thank you! :)

...the name of this?*

*Thanks to Keith Todd, we can call this wild carrot, or Queen Anne's lace (North America), among other names.

It was cloudy when I headed outdoors. Then the darn hot sun reappeared.

Taken this morning, 2023, but I now see that the camera’s battery lost a year. How does this happen?

Make sure you pause to #recall all that is good in life - sunshine, the woods with snow, cats, houseplants, lovely shade of blue paint, and being alive.

Houston, Texas-1903

Had limited opportunity to do any birding due to the Covid-19 , so I have taken the opportunity to go through some of my photos from last year and this one was taken in a Houston suburb, I seem to recall someone telling me that this was one of the few times if ever a Red Phalarope in plumage colors had been seen in Houston, Texas.

Unfortunately I can't recall the name of this old French fortress but I do recall moving off it quickly as the rain came in.

History recalls how great the fall can be

While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea

Borne on the wings of time

It seemed the answers were so easy to find

"Too late," the prophets cry

The island's sinking, let's take to the sky

Called the man a fool, stripped him of his pride

Everyone was laughing up until the day he died

Although the wound went deep

Still he's calling us out of our sleep

My friends, we're not alone

He waits in silence to lead us all home

So you tell me that you find it hard to grow

Well I know, I know, I know

And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow

Well I know, I know, I know

Can you hear what I'm saying

Can you see the parts that I'm playing

"Holy Man, Rocker Man, Come on Queenie,

Joker Man, Spider Man, Blue Eyed Meanie"

So you found your solution

What will be your last contribution?

"Live it up, rip it up, why so lazy?

Give it out, dish it out, let's go crazy, Yeah!"

My passwords notebook!

I don't recall where this was taken. Oh, well.

I Iike those 8 showy ray flowers. The little disc flowers, mostly yellow, are important too, of course.

Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?

When memories of distant places and events begin to blur with the passing years, old passports are great for recall.

365: the 2022 Edition 9/365

All my life I have wanted the people of this world to live in peace and harmony. As a child, it seemed so simple. We all share one planet, and it should be so easy. Even as an adult, I still hold on to that hope. As David Suzuki said... "The human brain now holds the key to our future. We have to recall the image of the planet from outer space: a single entity in which air, water, and continents are interconnected. That is our home. "

One from the blistering heat of last Summer from my trusted balcony. As we're all now shivering, I wanted to bring back some warmth and sunshine to the scheme of things. Had such a wonderful Summer with the plants and flowers in the pots and got some great shots. As for the under shots which I like so much, I think they look so much more in tune with the moment, than the orthodox frontal captures, nothing wrong with that of course but this angle I think looks more alive.

Hope everyone is well, I want everyone to know I appreciate hugely all the faves, comments and the such like and so as always, thank you! :)

Those times I remember the emotion but the details are fuzzy.(Recollections Series)

The first young of the season are starting to appear - I watched and photographed this one as the sun started to set last night - and they are neat to photograph. Partly because they are fairly static, and partly because the migration is slow again to start.

In each CG family group, in my experience, there is at least one gosling that wants to carve out its own path, and strays from the adult supervision the others covet. Maybe I focus on that bird because it is more energetic, and more isolated and interesting, and maybe because it recalls my own autobiography.

From the sublime to the ridiculous: from the Grasshopper Sparrow, an increasingly rare bird under tremendous pressure as a species, to the Canada Goose: a bird many people think should be under more pressure than it is. But it is a wild and living thing, as much a part of the world I live in as Red-winged Blackbirds and Warbling Vireos. And in Mud Lake it finds the same rich habitat, for many of the same reasons, that leads many other migratory species to end up there.

Anyway - a spring seasonal greeting card from Ottawa.

Cant recall the name of this wild flower.. seen in a little meadow.. so ID welcome..

EDIT.. possibly 'Echium plantagineum'..

HBW..!! Have a great day.. thanks for looking

I recall I got a letter on a recall, but now I do not recall if I took it in for the recall installation?

You′ll say, we've got nothing in common

No common ground to start from

And we′re falling apart

You'll say, the world has come between us

Our lives have come between us

Still, I know you just don't care

And I said, "What about breakfast at Tiffany′s?"

She said, "I think I remember the film and

As I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"

And I said, "Well, that′s the one thing we've got"

Was I was in elementary school, I discovered in the school's library several volumes of hardbound books that contained the many adventures of Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy. Originally in paperback, comic book form, the librarian had preserved them by binding them into hardbound books. I recalling learning about Thomson and Thompson and much more. I enjoyed the illustrations and all of the characters and adventures! I purchased these figurines several years ago.

Thank you for taking the time to view this photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.

This photo was part of a spontaneous session I shot a couple of years ago. I vividly recall driving past this place and thinking I had entered some sort of portal that allowed time travel. It wasn't simply the wonderful Victorian house, but everything that surrounded it. It felt for all the world like I had moved back in time. But more than that, it felt like a movie set with everything carefully crafted to give the impression of a small town street in a much simpler time. All the touches were there, the stone column flanking a wrought iron fence; bare tree, crooked street sign, and that wonderful front porch. This is not one of those century villages full of preserved historic architecture. The house is situated on a city street, surrounded by ample evidence of the modern era. Yet somehow this corner of Highland Avenue has escaped the visual clutter and is locked into a decades-old visual appearance. As it happened, my completely random discovery of this place coincided with absolutely perfect sky and cloud conditions. The low sun angle provide deep shadows and greatly enhanced the mood. And the fallen leaves added to the atmosphere. It just wouldn't have been the same had the leaves been raked away to reveal a bare tree lawn and pavement. All part of that timeless quality and autumnal ambiance. I post a photo of this place every autumn; it's sort of like putting up a seasonal decoration. I just love the way the scene makes me feel.

Recalling this scene, I found it harder than I thought. But when you edit your photo slowly (like there aren't thousands of them waiting to be observed, filtered and edited out), with patient carefulness, you automatically remember the situation, even though it was taken almost a year ago.

It seems to me it has been taken at least 3 years ago but hey... it's just me.

I remember walking down the village street, trying to capture something, before the night comes on.

Little did I know the magnificent storm accompanied by rain will caught me.

We can now proudly say that I was the one who caught this storm, NOT vice versa :)

So, I was not feeling the rain on my skin ,even though by this moment, it was pouring down heavily.

I was more concerned about not to burn pixels from sensor on my new camera. I was testing it out back then, and having all the opportunity to catch some nice lightning, first time in life.

Feel free to comment, maybe I recall some other trivia about this night. I remembered going to sleep in a beautiful cozy little room with this same rain gently pouring.

I recall using a pay phone but not outside the police station.

I mainly recall using a pay phone in the parking lot of a shopping mall on the edge of Ottawa on nights when the commute home was going to be late. My commute was about an hour through the countryside and, on a good day, fifteen minutes through the city. The fifteen minute part could be an hour or more at times so a quick pull out of traffic to the pay phone at the mall to say I would be late. All before cell phones.

In February of 1992 I took an almost cross country drive shooting anything I came across on the way out to Arizona and back to New York. The Santa Fe was to be a main hit and even though I could only get them for a couple of days, I did what I well. Using the Santa Fe access road in the Williams, AZ area, I bounced around to different spots to shoot whatever came my way at locations I don't ever recall seeing in the rail fan print. The "Warbonnet" paint had just begun to return to several new models of locomotives. Most were on the high priority trains. On this day blue bonnets were the main attraction. What I didn't know a the time is that no matter what they were painted, it'd all be gone in a few years.
