A bright green fern emerges from a decades old lava flow from Kilauea on the Island of Hawaii. It can take centuries for a lava field to be reclaimed by vegatation, but it all starts with small growth like this.
The rebirth of a new day taken in Beloit, Wisconsin. I thought this would be an appropriate theme to celebrate Easter this weekend.

A friend and makeup artist here in Mexico is going through cancer treatment at the moment. She is going through this life-changing experience with tremendous grace and strength. Today, in a way to support her through this journey, a fundraising photoshoot was held here in Mexico City. While photographers paid to attend today's workshop to work with models, my main goal was to capture this moment in my friend's life, to show her courage, grace and tremendous inner strength as she goes through this emotional and physically difficult time.

Bushfires are both a destructive and a life-giving entity in the outback.

Plants have evolved a variety of strategies to survive (or even require) fires, (possessing reserve shoots that sprout after a fire, or developing fire-resistant or fire-triggered seeds) or even encourage fire (eucalypts contain flammable oils in the leaves) as a way to eliminate competition from less fire-tolerant species. Many native animals are also adept at surviving bushfires.
One of Del Norte County's overlooked hiking gems, the Damnation Creek Trail offers visitors solitude among magnificent virgin coast redwoods and a scenic pathway to a nearly inaccessible stretch of rugged coastline. Located in Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park 8 miles south of Crescent City, the trail meanders through massive old-growth redwoods before plunging 1,000 feet to open up on Damnation Cove and the Pacific Ocean.
The perennial walllowers in my garden are beginning to burst forth in colour again.
btw does anyone know if it is possible to alter the Apple Photo editing app to include a line in the EXIF data with copyright info? I can do it if I do the editing in Lightroom as in this photo, but that's not always convenient.

Hello people on flickr. Sorry I haven't been posting for the past week. My college laptop died on me and it had all of the pictures I have stocked up so I couldn't post until I got a new one and recovered all of my files. And now that's done! So, I'll be back posting photos! Whooooooo
Also in other news, with everything going on with flickr, I'm thinking about making an instagram account. I'd be posting the same content on flickr but most likely more WIP pictures and such. What do you guys think?

The ritual of coloring Easter eggs stems from the tradition of painting eggs in bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring.
Hot cross buns have long been associated with Good Friday and Easter. They were originally cakes for the Queen of Heaven. The markings indicating the four phases of the moon. The crescent moon is a goddess emblem. It is sometimes seen as the horns of a bull or ox. The word bun is derives from the classical Greek for ox.
