For some reason 625 has lost the rear advert from both the parts surrounding the rear lights. It also has one of the little messages on the rear desti which must annoy the Yourbus drivers when they're following behind!

out of 20,000 reasons why you shouldn't drink quality coffee while heavy under the flu. I got this amazing Ethiopia Kaffa Forest Tega and Tulla Coffee, not from Novo (the place advertising right now on CoffeeGeek) but from Paradise Roasters. I had to try it.
Problem is, I have the flu right now, and I'm light headed, dizzy, not well at all. But I ground into the press pot right away, and flicked the knob on the Ditting grinder... to release the stray grounds....
and made impact with the Bodum press. Sigh.

It seems to be easy
This photo outing was encouraging for a number of reasons.
First, the EF-S 17-55mm proved once again to be a fantastic lens, and I'm really pleased with how big of a difference it's making in the sharpness of my images.
Second, it was pretty painless to edit, and only took me about 30 minutes of tinkering, so I'm definitely building confidence there.
Finally, I dragged the whole family with me, including the ~2 year old and the ~2 month old, and it wasn't impossible to make that happen. We piled in the car just before sunset, drove up the road a bit, and spent about a half hour at the beach, and nobody was too upset about it.
Basically, I was able to pull together an image that I'm really excited about without having to make a huge investment. It was reassuring to see that there's still hope for me in this hobby, even with two young kids and precious little free time! :)
Bed frame on the front lawn...for whatever reason. The master bedroom is just above it on the second floor.
You'll see why I named it that in a moment.
After leaving Fort Ransom we drove a little while and happened upon this place. I can only assume it must have been a farm house, as it's way out in the country with only other farms around it. But it's so beautiful for a farm/country house, even in it's state of decay!
I wish I could tell you when this place was built or abandoned. And I wish I could tell you that it just needed some major repairs and could be livable again. But...that wouldn't be true. Once dad and I walked around outside and got inside it as apparent that no amount of work could save this place. So we tried to enjoy it in the moment.
I found this house briefly covered on another blog while I was looking for more information on it. In the comments section, a relative had left this comment that really stuck with me about the place, because it was all I was able to find out about this beautiful place. So in closing, I'll leave you with Marin's comment:

That house was the home to my Great Uncle and Aunt.
It broke my heart to see what it looks like now. After Tante Elsie (Aunt Elsie in Norwegian) passed away, the farmstead became the property of someone else.
I shed quite a few tears, but then started to smile remembering the gatherings at her home that always included her AWESOME sugar cookies. I remember sneaking into the pantry in the kitchen and stealing a few extra krumkake and of course, more sugar cookies!
I could see her butt sticking out from under the porch as she grabbed kitten after kitten for her great niece to play with.
I shared this with Mom and we did a lot of reminiscing. It was strange how I could still remember what furniture was in each corner, at one point I realized I didn’t see the piles of junk on the floor, instead I saw how Tante had decorated her home.
I was terrified to walk up the stairs more than 25 years ago, I’m not sure how you walked up as far as you did!

Last Monday I had the chance to spend my day following these beautiful animals while they were chilling and eating grass on the piedmont side of the Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso. For this reason I've been capable of taking several shots depicting their daily routine, from relaxing under a shady tree to jumping between the rocks of a river.
Hopefully I'll be back at photographing wildlife very soon, stay tuned!
I love big hoop earrings, but this is a perfect illustration why their size must be limited: anything larger would be blocked by my shoulders :)

I believe the best reason to visit Paris in Wintertime (especially during the holiday season) is the relative lack of foreign tourists. It’s the best time to enjoy all that Paris is known for without pushing your way through the 90 million selfie-snapping, sidewalk-clogging, guidebook-toting foreigners who visited Paris last year! o many tourists seem intent on their must-see list rather than actually being present in one of the world’s great cities. I so enjoyed being fully present at the Louvre courtyard, here seen while bicycling (yes, bicycling) around the compact city on a frosty November day, enjoying glorious afternoon light.
At this point, I’ll only visit Paris in Winter: love seeing French people bundled up in their well-cut dark coats and petit chapeaux, carrying brightly-colored shop bags, ducking into chic little bars you couldn't possible know about, for a bit of chat, maybe some Champagne. The best might be enjoying Fall’s glorious harvest (wild mushrooms!) & hunt (wild boar!) can be enjoyed in restaurants, wonderfully rich food that harkens to life in the French countryside. I have lost my embrojo at the moment. I can't concentrate lately. I can't manage my time well lately either. I feel anxious a lot of the time. This happens every year around this time. As another 360 days slip past me, I ponder what it is I did that was worthwhile during the year.
All my floss boxes are crying at me, but I can't bring myself to soothe them, that's sad. But I will be damned if the devil will get a hold of my idle hands, and that is why I knit for no damn reason.

For some reason I can't resist shooting the trains while they are standing on the bridge at Main Street Station. This is a terrible spot for shooting the trains, because the bridge obscures the bottom half of the locomotive, and the only shooting angle is 90 degrees, no deflection. The Engineers being so close makes it appealing I guess, but cropping the image is near impossible except for these tight shots of the cab. Oh well, I will keep shooting them anyway....
This is a photograph from the second running of the newly situated Irish 3/4 Marathon (formerly the Athlone 3/4) which was held in Longwood, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of October 2017 at 10:00. The event is positioned perfectly in the calendar as a key training race before the Dublin City Marathon at the end of the month. This year was the second year that the event was held in Longwood, Co. Meath which is now well known for its hosting of the Longwood 10KM/5KM annual races and a host venue for East of Ireland Marathon series marathons on a bi-annual basis. The race started and finished at Longwood GAA club just outside the village of Longwood. It followed an anti-clockwise course around the beautiful picturesque countryside of south Meath. The course went through the townlands of Longwood, Castlerickard, Killyon, Hill-of-Down, Anneville and Ashfield Clonard, Blackshare, Stoneyford and back to Longwood. The river Boyne and Blackwater were crossed as was the Royal Canal and the Dublin-Sligo Railway line at Hill-of-Down. Overall this was a very different course to the previous years in Athlone. The overall elevation of the course works out at 3/4 of the total elevation of the Dublin Marathon course. What most stood out about today's race was the course and how the countryside around it looked on a beautiful almost perfect Autumn morning. There was a large local effort with stewarding and many local people watched from their gardens as the race passed by. The organisation of the race was first class with every detail taken care of from the start until the finish. There was some rain showers from about 13:00 onwards but these soon passed.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

Christian Lillinger wird spätestens seit seinem Projekt „Grund“, das bereits in die zweite Runde - „Second Reason“ - geht, als Newcomer und hoffnungsvolles Licht am Jazzhimmel gefeiert. Auffällig an dieser Musik ist die spielerische Durchlässigkeit. Kein Überfrachten, kein Vortäuschen, kein Protzen. Ein Vibraphon, ein Klavier, zwei Saxophone, zwei Kontrabässe und ein Schlagzeug ergeben einen schlanken, eleganten Ensembleklang, der in jedem Augenblick die Spannung hält.
The meain reason for visiting Cambridge was to see King's College Chapel.
I must first than two friends, Simon K and Aidan for posting shots from Cambridge and so firing up my desire to visit.
Things fell into place and I found myself on a train last Sunday, and a place on the first tour of the day Monday morning.
I will add more thoughts as I post shots, but this for a start.
Quite the strongest emotional response I have ever had to a building, I had to choke back tears!
All chairs and seating have been removed, so there is just the building.

Just a handful of us early visitors had the entire chapel to ourselves.
I followed up, not on purpose, a Japanese lady who was walking round with an i phone of a selfie stick, recording herself walking round the chapel, rather than the chapel itself. Which I know is her choice.
I saw the wonderful glass in the windows of the side chapel, so decided to photograph those too. Took some time.
No restrictions on photography, just don't "use flash on the Rubens" in the chancel. I was told.
In truth, there's more than enough in the Chapel for a whole day, as I'm sure new details would reveal themselves each time you looked.

Begun by Henry VI, completed under the direction of Henry VII, the glass scheme installed under the somewhat-disinterested Henry VIII. 'The heart and soul of early 20th Century Anglicanism' according to M R James, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols begun here during the First World War helped invent the modern Christmas. The fan vaulting is spectacular, the proportions (300ft long, 40ft wide, 90ft high) almost shocking in their single-minded Perpendicular triumphalism. The Chapel vies with Ely and Peterborough Cathedrals as the best single medieval building in Cambridgeshire, but the vast scheme of early 16th Century glass is undoubtedly the biggest and best of its kind anywhere in the British Isles.

King's College Chapel is the chapel of King's College in the University of Cambridge. It is considered one of the finest examples of late Perpendicular Gothic English architecture and features the world's largest fan vault.[3] The Chapel was built in phases by a succession of kings of England from 1446 to 1515, a period which spanned the Wars of the Roses and three subsequent decades. The Chapel's large stained glass windows were completed by 1531, and its early Renaissance rood screen was erected in 1532–36. The Chapel is an active house of worship, and home of the King's College Choir. It is a landmark and a commonly used symbol of the city of Cambridge.
Henry VI planned a university counterpart to Eton College (whose Chapel is very similar, but not on the scale intended by Henry). The King decided the dimensions of the Chapel. Reginald Ely was most likely the architect and worked on the site since 1446.[6] Two years earlier Reginald was charged with sourcing craftsmen for the Chapel's construction.[6] He continued to work on the site until building was interrupted in 1461, having probably designed the elevations.[6] The original plans called for lierne vaulting, and the piers of the choir were built to conform with them.[6] Ultimately, a complex fan vault was constructed instead.[6] Reginald probably designed the window tracery at the extreme east of the church's north side: the east window of the easternmost side chapel, which unlike the Perpendicular style of the others is in curvilinear Gothic style.[6] The priest and later bishop Nicholas Close (or Cloos) was recorded as the "surveyor", having been the curate of St John Zachary, a church demolished to make way for the Chapel.[7][8][9]
The first stone of the Chapel was laid, by Henry himself, on the Feast of St James the Apostle, 25 July 1446, the College having been begun in 1441. By the end of the reign of Richard III (1485), despite the Wars of the Roses, five bays had been completed and a timber roof erected. Henry VII visited in 1506, paying for the work to resume and even leaving money so that the work could continue after his death. In 1515, under Henry VIII, the building was complete but the great windows had yet to be made.
The Chapel features the world's largest fan vault, constructed between 1512 and 1515 by master mason John Wastell. It also features fine medieval stained glass and, above the altar, The Adoration of the Magi by Rubens, painted in 1634 for the Convent of the White Nuns at Louvain in Belgium. The painting was installed in the Chapel in 1968; this involved the lowering of the Sanctuary floor leading up to the High Altar. It had been believed that gradations were created in 1774 by James Essex, when Essex had in fact lowered the floor by 5 1/2 inches,[10] but at the demolition of these steps, it was found that the floor instead rested on Tudor brick arches.
During the removal of these Tudor steps, built at the Founder's specific request that the high altar should be 3 ft above the choir floor, human remains in intact lead coffins with brass plaques were discovered, dating from the 15th to 18th centuries, and were disinterred.[12]
The eventual installation of the Rubens was also not without problems: once seen beneath the east window, a conflict was felt between the picture's swirling colours and those of the stained glass.[13][title missing] The Rubens was also a similar shape to the window, which "dwarfed it and made it look rather like a dependent postage stamp".[14] Plain shutters were proposed, one on each side, to give it a triptych shape (although the picture was never part of a triptych) and lend it independence of form, which is how one sees the Rubens today. The installation was designed by architect Sir Martyn Beckett, who was "philosophical about the furore this inevitably occasioned - which quickly became acceptance of a solution to a difficult problem."[15]
During the Civil War the Chapel was used as a training ground by Oliver Cromwell's troops, but escaped major damage, possibly because Cromwell, having been a Cambridge student, gave orders for it to be spared. Graffiti left by these soldiers is still visible on the north and south walls near the altar.[16] During World War II most of the stained glass was removed and the Chapel again escaped damage.[17]

As we were in the area for another reason we made a visit to Cambridge. A lovely city with lots to see.
A busy Saturday, lots of shoppers and also, surprisingly, lots of graduates graduating.
We tried to work out when they would have finished their exams and, perhaps wrongly, that they may have waited a long time for the official ceremony to happen? Our guess is that they must have done their finals last May?
In most universities the graduation ceremonies happen in late summer or early Autumn, i.e. September or October. So finding grads. in Cambridge on a windy day in March was a bit of a surprise.
Cambridge has a very good market with lots of vendors selling anything from food to eat there and then and food to take home. The one bread shop in the market had some fabulous bread on display. Not cheap but it did look extremely well made and probably tasty!
Other stalls had everything from hats, scarfs, bikes, ukulele’s, guitars; in fact a whole host of merchandise if you wanted to spend money.
We came across a violin playing tight rope walker to a lovely young lady named Jo who was out with her friends for her hen party. I got chatting to Jo and found out she was getting married in five weeks or so and she came from Leicester. Her friend Angelina was from the Essex borders. They were both very pleasant and, despite some reluctance, allowed me to take their photo.

The reason for my being!! Nothing makes me happy like this dog!! Leroy has now been through an earthquake and a hurricane with me in the last week!! He went back to his mother's house today and I miss him already! I just got to Ocean City, Maryland to check on my family's place and it is undamaged! :) Meanwhile, my place 150 miles inland has been without electric for 36 hours!! This shot was taken while passing time in the dark! Such a great companion!!!
