On the left is 4K UHD content encoded offline at high VQ, pristine quality, using Ittiam's H.265/HEVC Main 10 encoder.
On the right is a demonstration of Ittiam's H.265/HEVC encoder encoding at 4K UHD resolutions in real time.
In both cases, the encoded streams are being decoded by Ittiam's H.265/HEVC decoder, capable of 4K60 Main 10 decoding, running in real time on Intel Haswell devices (seen on counter top).
Realtime Trains has been showing a couple of paths every weekday for some months now for test run (I think) of the new Trans-Pennine Express trains from Manchester Internatjonal Depot to Bletchley and back. This train doesn't actually run very often - I have seen it 3 times and have probably missed it on several other occasions. The photo above shows what I think was the first run of this working in 2019.
68032 passes Wilsons Crossing on the return working from Bletchley to Manchester on 8 January 2019.
Screenshot of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx with the Realtime Sunlight Wallpaper and the same conky I used previously.

In the 2000s Nottingham City/County Council began rolling out realtime bus information screens across the city. This poster explains the technology to passengers and features a drawing of an Optare Excel which hasn't served with NCT for many years now!
VersuS visualizing the realtime lives of cities: Riots in Rome Oct. 15th
www.artisopensource.net/2011/10/16/versus-rome-october-15...
The peaks and contours you see represent the intensity of the communication and conversations that was taking place from the start of the protest (at 3pm local time) up until its approximate end (at 8pm local time).
VersuS is a spin-off of the ConnectiCity project, and is intended to create tools that enable us to imagine, design and create new tools for the city.
In VersuS the possibility to capture and understand the conversations on social networks is transformed into a tool with infinite uses, whose main goal is to propose new forms of citizenship and human relation, and to also suggest institutions and organizations new methodologies and strategies to innovate their understanding of their cities and to design and enact strategies which leverage new possible sensibilities to the desires, wishes and creativity of people.
These and other topics will be discussed at the Share Festival and at the FabLab Italia during the first week of November 2011, where we will present the “VersuS” project.
Realtime Trains shows LNER formations so I knew this view of 801225 on the 10.15 Leeds - Stevenage at Sandal was a cop before it appeared into sight. Trains were not going through to Kings Cross due to bank holiday engineering works.
Quick realtime depth of field test. Each sphere is a weak deferred point light source with a random colour (high attenuation) - this causes all the different colours. A simple HDR tone mapping equation is used to adjust the exposure - without it, all the lights bunched in the center tend to turn a bright white.
I had this idea for a while and it just turned out possible. Development is still in progress, but 80% is done. Once finished I'll post the source + examples on my new blog. Well, keep fingers crossed.
