I didn't realize that experience and camera gear can make such a huge difference. But it does. My next in my restored building series is the Flatiron building in Toronto. However I am not happy with the outcome so Toronto bound I go to redo the composition. Using my new camera and my new top secret technique that I developed I know the outcome will be stunning..Stay tuned. for now here is a sample I am working toward.

Realized I had not taken proper advantage of the Michigan fall color so I grabbed some of the last leaves of the season and started floating them on the pond. Especially liked that this leave was likely once on the tree in this reflection. 305

What do we have to look forward to if all we see is the past?

i realized this does kinda look like Brook Shadens stuff. and then i also realized that in alot of her pics she writes on her wrists so now i feel like total copycat... SORRY BROOKE! I didn't mean for it to look like that :( this is my payback for yesterdays "utter crap". I personally think its better... it feels good to take it out on a picture in photoshop. Oh, the monsters i can be in that place :)

The lyrics on my arm have meaning that ill end up explaining in a picture later... if you talked to me saturday or yesterday at school you probably know. R.I.P Adam Cook :(

I realize that places must change, but sometimes nothing makes me feel better than a little piece of the past. And this church is definitely well preserved. I knew the priest & nuns... at first by going to JHS there, and then working close by.

realizing that your granddad has always been amazing when touching his device makes you want to ask him for a personal skill training...

Just realized how much this looks like the one I captured one year ago. Haha. Oh well. Perhaps I'll make it a yearly thing. :)

I realize that I don't match up to my many contacts with superb rare bird image shots , am I jealous blood right I am , best I can do.

I didn't realize that I had blown out the chimney area with my strobes until I got home and was pissed that we could have spent so much time outside in the cold for nothing. I used some other shots where the strobes misfired to overlay the blown areas and tone things down a bit. I also changed the color balance to make the white light look as if it were orange-red to seem as if it were coming from a fire.

strobist: long exposure of about 100 seconds, 2 sb-24s fired from cheap ass (never using them again) ebay radio poppers both inside the chimney structure. My ever patient assistant, Lauren, light painted the top of the chimney with a Petzl headlamp (hence the bluish tones).

*hums Mega Man music* *realizes I'm actually humming Punch Out music*

Um... Anywho...

Looky! It's 'ol Rock Man himself. This was a really fun edit to make and it turned out pretty good. Just a little rough around the edges. I think the biggest problem with this edit is he's not emotionless enough. You ever notice how straight-faced he is in Smash? And for no real reason...

I've never actually played a Smash game as Mega Man. Okay, I did once at a Con but I don't remember much from that short experience. :P Oh, and I've played as his a little in Super Smash Flash 2. But other than those two experiences...

Never.

Thr only Megaman game I've played is Megaman 8. I beat all the robot masters but never beat the Wily boss rush.

About midday, I realize that it's time to begin considering something for today's 366 project. I gather the iphone, a coffee cup, and a fern leaf and dart toward the light flowing through the kitchen window. I move things around a few times and still don't have something that feels soulful to me. Then my friend, Lucio, walks in to ask a question. And this is how it happens. Doors open, and options reveal in the moments when you most need them.

All of this brings us here, an image of his hands. He is such a kind person, and he didn't even think twice about accepting my unusual request. Then again, most folks know if they stop by the house, it's likely they'll be in a photograph, smiling.

Thanks so much for following and supporting this little project of mine. I appreciate it.

I'll see you tomorrow, xo.

I realized while continuing this project that I definitely enjoy doing schoolwork when it feels like personal work more than anything else. I started this project as a personal thing but showed it in class, which led my teacher to tell me to continue. I took another three photos for this series yesterday but this is the only one I really like. So you may or may not see the rest.

However, I probably can and will post little previews of the others on my Instagram so you should definitely go follow me there. And go "like" my Facebook page as Im starting a small little giveaway soon in celebration of being near 1,000 likes!

I just realized I had never posted a Milky Way photo for May. I shot this one just as the moon was setting, conditions were below average. I was hoping for better conditions for the new moon, but we have been nearly 100% overcast for the last two weeks. Single shot, no stacking.

"Life is"

- a poem by Mother Theresa

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.

Life is beauty, admire it.

Life is a dream, realize it.

Life is a challenge, meet it.

Life is a duty, complete it.

Life is a game, play it.

Life is a promise, fulfill it.

Life is sorrow, overcome it.

Life is a song, sing it.

Life is a struggle, accept it.

Life is a tragedy, confront it.

Life is an adventure, dare it.

Life is luck, make it.

Life is life, fight for it.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

I realized I hadn't posted any of the waterfall shots from Colorado from this summer. So I figured I'd start with Ouzel Falls, my favorite RMNP waterfall. Last winter was very heavy, so the water levels this past summer were very high, compared to my last visit there in 2007. I actually think that the lower flow in 2007 was more photogenic, but this power is nice too.

She realized then that there was nowhere on the earth she could get away. Those countless gripping hands, laid hold of every strand of her mind, of her being, then quickly pulled in unison. Everything she was came apart in that moment, twirling away into nothingness, leaving only darkness.

This, they could work with.

Maggie finally realized it's a caterpillar that has decided to hang out with her all day ;D

I wanted to show a full view of her outfit too :D

Sunset at Disney land....what a first trip!

A nearby church in the autumn sunset. I realized that this weekend is my last chance to capture the 2009 fall colors in my neighbourhood. Saturday was foggy, gloomy. I went out, took some random shots just to get inspiration. Overall yesterday, the scenery failed to inspire me. This morning with the early sunlight I chose a different direction, and went back to this often visited place. The morning light was coming from the right side of the photo, and it was too harsh on the building. Went back once more, just before sunset, that time the light worked for the composition.

I realized I never took photos of Gremory in his third wig! He likes to change his hair a lot, so I have a feeling he'll get many more wigs in the future. XD

I realized I was sick of my Katie Jump Rope collection sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I decided to cut into it and am using the Swoon pattern. The pattern calls for making these stars with just 2 colors, but I wanted to try a scrappy version and love how it looks in this block.

This was not the easiest block to come together. I am not a sewist that likes patterns and I realized you need to have a PERFECTLY consistent 1/4 inch to make this block perfect. But, I still love this pattern because it lets me have big pieces of my beloved fabric and not have to chop it up too much.

There's one mistake in this block (a half square triangle placed the wrong direction) but I'm leaving it in and didn't unpick it so that I won't have the pressure of this having to be THE perfect quilt. Also I see some prints I could have placed differently to mix it up better, but I'm just going to go with it and know that the whole quilt will be sufficiently scrappy to make it all mix in!

Don't look too closely or with a critical eye - also it hasn't been trimmed up! ;]

This is a huge block - if you aren't familiar with Swoon, this is a 24" x 24" block, you make 9 of these huge guys for a square quilt. Can't wait to sew more!

Yellow Throat

The other day I was recapping photographed species this year and realized that I had not gotten a nice Common Yellowthroat. My last 2 trips out I tried to capture one, but yesterday we had the most cooperative bird I may have ever seen. While searching for a local rarity, this bird flew all around us, calling non-stop and perching several times at 10-20 feet away. I thought this particular image was a little unique showing the "yellow throat" of the Yellowthroat straight on as it called. I also like that both eyes are showing in this view and the overcast light provided some highlights on both eyes as well as softened the greens in the background.

As a note to anyone interested in photographing warblers, these are probably the best species I can think of to start with or practice on. They have a distinct call and use it often. They are typically found on low lying scrubby areas and are extremely curious, if not territorial. No warbler is easy to get, but if you want to practice, this is probably a good species to start with.

They are some photographic short stories, collected walking on the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...

are photographic shots taken a few days ago, from all media it is suggested to respect social distancing, the use of masks especially in closed places, washing hands or, if this is not possible, in any case disinfecting hands; very important tips, especially for news of new infections that come constantly both from Italy and from the rest of the world where the pandemic is at the highest levels ... .. as someone has said ... about our Italian beginning of summer .... the covid-19 virus is not goes on vacation .....

that are Confused-moved-blurred-imprecise-indecisive-shots ... the Anglo-Saxon term encompasses with one word this photographic genre with the term "blur", these photos were thus taken during the shooting phase, lengthening the exposure time, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in post-production.

These are quite remarkable....their green markings on the petals are shaped like hearts....very delicate....and worth having in your spring garden.

Thanks to all of you that support my stream...and click into my world......I find it quite amazing the amount of people that pass through each day.....and stop by for a visit..!....Very unique how we can all touch each others lives from all over the world....and there is sooo many talented photographers willing to share their knowlege and flare for artistic design..!!

Made Explore March 14, 2008. #382

I realized that I never showed my first TrickyBricks weekly challenge builds here, so here's the first one from August of last year. This challenge was to build something in a monochromatic color scheme so I chose grayscale. It's a small observatory with a telescope inside! I didn't have a lot of time to build this one so I couldn't get much more done than what you see here. The seed parts here were the curved balloon sections.

I was really inspired by Richard's lighting design tips for this one. For the cooler "moonlight" I used 2 Power Functions lights hanging from above and stuck them through chrome reflector dishes. The interior is lit by AA-powered fairy string lights that I got from the dollar store. The background is mostly real; blue and green paper with a double exposure overlay for the sky. I hope you guys like it!

the apostrophes warblers...all common out west. None was a lifer, but fun to finally get some pics of Lucy's and Townsend's. I never realized from the guides that at the Townsend looking right at you looks like the avian version of a raccoon....

Realized the laptop is a heated cat bed

realizing it's very hard to get to know people when talking seems so fruitless

After waiting over a month, mom finally got to Toronto and into the Apple Store to buy her Mac. (The shopping was part of the present.)

We booked a personal shopper, Dave, to help with the process and he was great! Totally worth calling ahead to have someone like Dave (or Dave himself) there to help you go through the purchase process and all the little questions that are sitting in the back of your mind.

(These are going to be used together in a flickr slideshow on unsweetened.ca)

Just realized this is possible and wanted to keep it for future reference, as I have no direct need for it now. Hope others find it useful too. This should allow for reasonably decent angled stripes too because you could continue to go diagonal with multiple 2x2s, 3x3s or 4x4s in a row.

There are slight gaps, but not large enough to fill with ½ plate elements. Those gaps can be used as subtle greebling, so it's not that bad if you can make it work for you.

Note I did not have a 3x3 plate at hand but it's not required: the solution shown here is one plate higher than a single 3x3 plate would be. If you want to cover things with tiles, the extra plate height is unavoidable for 3x3 and 4x4 anyway.

You can do this with larger wedge plates too, obviously.

Realized one day in late autumn that it was a long time since I took out my filters and tripod for some water long exposure, so I did that.

A few years ago I realized that I had a desire to find and see as much of this beautiful state as I could and researched hikes utilizing the Washington Trails Association (of which I am now a proud member) and I found all of the 'bunny trails', one to (gasp) six miles and I saw some amazing beauty, but two years ago I saw an image of Indian Henry's Hunting Ground and the Ranger Scout Cabin located there and realized that this was a place that I could not go to. They list it at 14 miles (the signs on the trail say 16, I can add) with 3200 feet of elevation gain. After working out this winter and hiking every chance I could I struck out for this mystical magical place on a trail that climbs and descends several ridges, crosses many beautiful streams, passes two pack in campgrounds and with the exception of Rampart Ridge you do it on a part of the 95 mile trail that's calling my name, the Wonderland.

You approach from the right and you just see the side of it tucked neatly in the trees and then you look up at the amazing south west face of Rainier towering behind it, I'd say that it was breathtaking, but I didn't have any anyway..... :-) I ate lunch and sipped a Gatorade on the back step and glowed at the beauty I had found and knowledge that there isn't a place in the park that I can't get to now, might take a few days, but I can get there. (I also tacked on two miles and got Mirror lakes after lunch, I mean, I was in the neighborhood.....) :-)

Boots on the trail at 5:40 a.m., butt in the truck at 4:00 p.m. It was a VERY good day. I saw three people coming down on my way up and spoke to a man who was arriving via the much easier Tahoma Creek route as I was leaving. I've never been so alone in my life. :-)

I realized this morning that the rowan berries (Sorbus aucuparia) outside have got a nice strong colour and I just had to go out to photograph them, and the remaining summer flowers covered in morning dew.

I realize a lot of my contacts celebrate Happy Bokeh Wednesday. My landscape shots are typically all middle apertures. But while preparing dinner a lime I pulled from a tree in my backyard and my all-time favorite knife, my Wustof santoku were perfectly backlit.

So HBW

I realized I hadn't gotten a picture of the restored Brighton Bandstand since it had been finished. Made my way down to the beach and hoped for a decent sunset.

Here's a quick background story about the stand:

The Brighton Bandstand, also known as The Birdcage and the Bedford Square Bandstand was designed by Phillip Causton Lockwood in 1883 and manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co. of Saracen Foundry in Glasgow, and constructed in 1884. The Bandstand was designed as part of a project which included landscaped enclosures and covered shelters to improve facilities on the seafront in Brighton and Hove. It was originally intended as a sheltered area for Ladies to rest in and admire the sea views, but soon became host to Bands and Gentlemen.

Never realized how many dozens of shots I never posted from last year's trip until I spent Saturday going through the archives....I think because we had so many crazy spring weather days (7 out of 9 days it snowed) that I wasn't that happy with the landscape shots I came away with, but I found a few that I think are worthy of sharing....after all, overcast days do have their benefits at times :-) This one was taken somewhere along the boardwalk at Midway Geyser Basin....the saturated colors caught my eye. We went there to see Grand Prismatic but never managed to get a good look because of all the heavy steam....there's always this year to try again....just 10 short days to go!!!!

Have a great Tuesday.....and thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!!

:-)) Realizing the function of what we're looking at, shouldn't this photo be marked as 'may offend"? / ;-)) Als we de funktie van waar we naar kijken tot ons laten doordringen, zou deze foto dan niet moeten worden gemerkt als "may offend"?

I realized too late that I had planted some of my hyacinths too close to one of the main deer paths on the property. I watched with apprehension as the tips of the sprouting hyacinth leaves disappeared one by one overnight. However, the deer left the flower stalk alone. It's well known that deer will not eat daffodils. Perhaps hyacinth flowers share some of daffodils' deer repellent properties.

======================================================

Spring is several weeks late this year and getting later because of the unseasonably cool weather. Fortunately, the bulbs I planted last year and in 2021 are now up and blooming.

Not having grown the large variety of hyacinths before, I overestimated their shade tolerance. As a result, some parts of my modest flower beds look like the site of an experiment on the effects of low light on hyacinths. Unlike the specimens seen here, which are upright, others are almost horizontal to the ground in their quest to reach a sunnier spot. I would not be surprised to wake up one morning and discover my bulbs had acquired the skill of locomotion.

Have a HAPPY day my FRIENDS!!!

I just realized the other day that I never posted stand-alone pictures of the snowspeeder I built for my final entry to this years IDSMO and thought I'd use the opportunity to test my new camera lense.

I tried to get as close to minifig-scale with this model as I possibly could. It's still a stud or two too long but there is only so much you can do with Lego if you still want a functional interior.

Let me know what you think of my Snowspeeder, I'd love to hear your opinion! Obviously there are still some parts that could do with some more work like the non existent upper airbrakes. If you have any ideas on how to improve the model, let me hear them! ;)
