Reality fades
My mind is made up
Give in to the haze..
Neglected..Forgotten..
In darkness I tremble
The dance was erotic
But life’s not that simple

As always it does
The silence is deafning
Let me drift on the currents
For only a moment longer
Let me take with me a memory
Memory of the scent of our skin
Intertwined and warmed with passion..

Then the haze can wrap me up

2016 marked the 5th year for TEDxOhioStateUniversity. This year’s theme, Reconstructing Reality, featured students, faculty, staff, and alumni as speakers and performers who inspired and challenged our concepts of science, technology, history, and life. I was walking in downtown when I passed in front of this big church. There were many homeless people (specially elderly ones) in front of it waiting for donations. I decided to photograph some of them (first candid shots). When they notice me with the “big camera”, they all at the same time jump on me asking for some money.. It was sort of overwhelming and a little bit scary, but I was able to talk to them. I offered a couple $ to take some other shots. They were very happy about it. It was a strange, but very interesting experience!!! I decided to use the B&W to have just their expressions and no color distraction. This absence of color somewhat reflects their reality of being striped of almost everything in life. Here is the result.

I know it's just a banal reflection of the everyday in a monitor screen, but why do I keep wanting to call it reality tv?
She's posing well here but I think it's only a few more minutes until a few tears flow as reality sets in, no longer a student but now a graduate!
