Today I helped create a mixed reality event in Second Life. A member of parliament held a luncheon session in a local café, where people could come, ask questions, share problems etc. At the same time the MoP was also present in Second Life. So that people could do the same there, without being obliged to come to the café. It was an experiment but I think a worthwile one. My feeling that it is in mixed reality events that SL is most valuable has been reinforced again. Images of what took place in SL was shown on screen in the café

One of the real surprises that we had during our recent week-long Eastern Caribbean Cruise to San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, and St. Kitts on the Celebrity Equinox (February 17-24, 2018), was an invitation to spend some time on the Helipad. We originally received an invitation to the Helipad as we entered San Juan, but the weather did not allow the event to happen. While we were disappointed, we were thrilled to another invitation for the following day to "enjoy front row seats to the best view at sea" as we departed St. Maarten. We were tapped by the Guest Relations team. We were not sure if our stateroom attendant Iman picked us or delivered the good news - but he was somewhat involved. When we arrived at the meeting area, people were all hypothesizing as to why they were there. Were we invited because we were elite members? Were we there because we had suites? Were we there because we had important roles in groups? I have no idea - I am just super happy we were there. As a first time traveler on Celebrity in a standard veranda stateroom, I was just about as non-special as you can be. Sure, I take a ton of photos - but I am not sure they knew that. Or maybe they did. ANYWAY - what an amazing experience. Given that we left at 6pm, we skipped dinner to be on the Helipad at 5:30 for the departure. I will write this up more later - but here are the pictures. What a memorable departure from St. Maarten. I did see a great view of the Carnival Conquest and Silversea's Silver Wind on our way out of port. BTW - the Helipad is used really only once a year - but more on that later.

El búho real (Bubo bubo) es una especie de ave estrigiforme de la familia Strigidae. Es una rapaz de tamaño grande, distribuida por Europa, Asia y África. Es más común en el noreste de Europa, pero también en la zona que rodea el Mediterráneo, incluyendo la península Ibérica. Su nombre científico deriva de la onomatopeya de los sonidos que emite, y ya desde la Edad Media se le conocía como Bubo en los bestiarios.
Debido a su majestuosidad y a su fácil cría en cautividad es usado con relativa frecuencia en el arte de la cetrería.
El búho real puede encontrarse en múltiples hábitats desde zonas semi-desérticas, bosques templados, estepas y hasta en la tundra. Aunque la presión antrópica ejercida durante la mitad del siglo XX hizo retroceder sus poblaciones, las cuales quedaron relegadas a ocupar únicamente las zonas montañosas más inaccesibles, actualmente se encuentra en un proceso de recuperación muy importante recuperando gran parte de las zonas de su distribución. Nidifica principalmente en cortados rocosos, situados entre el nivel del mar y hasta más de 2.000 m de altitud. También puede utilizar nidos antiguos de otras aves rapaces, como busardo ratonero o azor común. E incluso en determinadas zonas, dónde la densidad de parejas territoriales es muy elevada, puede llegar a nidificar directamente en el suelo.
Son animales muy territoriales. Utilizan varios sistemas de señalización para delimitar sus territorios e indicar su ocupación, como son cantos territoriales desde los posaderos o el marcaje de las rocas con fecas. El tamaño territorial de cada pareja varía ampliamente dependiendo principalmente de la disponibilidad de presas, densidad de parejas vecinas y de la tasa de recambio de los individuos territoriales.
If you want something done right, do it yourself. I've been looking for camo covers and rain-proofing for my camera gear and haven't founf anything that really matches what I own. I broke down and bought a sewing machine and ordered some weatherproof fabric and have been teaching myself to sew. Started off with the tripod, next are covers for the lens and cameras.
