When people discover that I run, an all too common question comes. "Have you run the Boston Marathon?" "Well, yes I have." Most people do not realize you have to qualify to be considered for entry in Boston. To the gifted runner, it is just a race they can choose to enter or not. For the rest of us, running a BMQ (Boston Marathon Qualifier) time takes everything we have to give and more. I would like to run it again, but that is not the all consuming mindset that gets an ordinary runner to the prestigious event. I am proud of what I did to get to Boston in 2008. However, I am a "real" runner, because I keep lacing-up even when my watch saying I am slowing down.
