There are a number of street markets in Hong Kong that seemed geared towards tourists. This one is not. it was near our hotel and was selling things your average person would want. Phone cases were actually quite popular.

One of The Real Aeroplane Company's De Havilland (Canada) Chipmunk T.1's - WK585 (G-BZGA) silhouetted against the New Year's Day sunset whilst on finals to Shoreham Airport.
The Gipsy-Major powered Chipmunk was the basic trainer used by the Royal Air Force during the 1950's and 60's until replaced by the Scottish Aviation Bulldog, a two-seat military derivative of the Beagle Pup, designed and built at Shoreham but taken over by SA at Prestwick when Beagle failed.
The 'tandem layout' Chipmunk followed on from the Tiger Moth and like it's forebearer, was a hugely successful basic trainer not only serving with the RAF but the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Army Air Corps along with many foreign Air Arms including Denmark and Portugal. In it's latter service life, RAF Chipmunks were used for AEF (Air Experience Flights) given to Air Cadets whilst on annual camp at RAF stations or from the various Flight's based around the country, manned by RAF(VR) officer pilots.
Amongst many civilian operated 'Chippies', The College of Air Training based at Hamble also used them for basic training of commercial Airline Pilots.
When their service life finally came to an end most were sold off and found their way into civilian use here in the UK and Europe and in the US too where they soldier on with many useful hours still available.
