The Royal Path (Camino Real) is part of a complexe network of paths designed by the American Indians in between the XVIth and the XVIIIth century. The path links Bogotá to Cartagena as well as spreading into some areas of Venezuela. The FIAT 500 has been around since 2007. Its a funny little car whose deficiencies can be forgiven due to the cars shear character.

A litle real Winter!
At least a bit of snow! Perhaps 5cm. And a sunny day. So I skipped office and went out. No special pictures, but hey, I was exited like a little boy.
La escalera principal del Palacio Real de Madrid fue construida sobre de varios proyectos, la mayorÃa de ellos diseñados por Juan Bautista Sachetti, arquitecto principal del Palacio, quien respetó la idea original de su maestro Filippo Juvara de dos escaleras que se elevaban en direcciones opuestas desde el mismo arranque. Juvara habÃa ideado que la escalera ocupase completamente una de las alas del edificio, en torno al patio central, aunque desplazada hacia un lateral como en el Palacio de Versalles.
La actual escalera, de tipo imperial y suave pendiente, es más sencilla que la proyectada por Sachetti y fue concluida y diseñada por Francesco Sabatini, quien tomó como modelo la del Palacio de Caserta, pero respetando la impresionante caja construida por Sachetti. Parte de un solo tiro de arranque hasta el gran rellano central, donde se divide en dos tramos paralelos que suben en sentido inverso al primero.
La bóveda está decorada con ricos estucos blancos y dorados y el Triunfo de la Religión y de la Iglesia, hermoso fresco de Corrado Giaquinto, pintor que fue mandado llamar por Fernando VI. La estancia se ilumina por cuatro grandes farolas de estilo imperio parcialmente doradas.

This is a shot of me dressed in full field hockey goalie gear in a pool ... I wanted to do a fundraiser T-shirt to raise money to travel to California for the world championships in 1998. This shot with "Real Underwater Hockey" or something like that.
I borrowed the field hockey gear from a workmate (who I had many great conversations about what "real" hockey actually was). What I didn't really think about was just how totally and utterly buoyant this gear was! Absolutely no hope of getting underwater in this gear!
The photo was taken by a good friend of mine, Garry Davidson, who sadly passed away last year. Taken at the Glenorchy Pool near Hobart, Tasmania. After a hard training session, we spent quite a bit of time getting the shot right - lighting was tricky, I was stuck to the surface, and we used good old slide film (so we basically had no idea whether it worked or not).
I never used the image however - I used an action uwh image of a friend of mine and sold enough at the world championships to have a little bit of spending money.
