Uncovered by repaving outside Independence Hall (not that Philadelphia lacks for unused, or even in-use, streetcar rails)

Forgotten industrial trackage looks into the future and a couple of BNSF's wide-span, electric rail-mounted gantry cranes at Stacy Street Yard in Seattle Wa.

The state of Maine has developed a system of trails using the old railway beds throughout the state. The rails are removed and the trails are packed and graded. these new trails are to be used by everyone. Snowmobiles in the winter, ATVs in the summer. Hikers, bikers, horses can all use these miles and miles of trails. I like the idea but watching this scene from a distance made think harder about sharing the trails....... This is a pair of ATVs using the newly opened trails in Machias. I certainly wouldn't want to be hiking with my dog when these guys came along.......... Eat my dust.......... i don't think so ;-( !!!!!

Dungeness, one of my favourite locations. Net sheds, winding gear to haul the boats, rails, fishing debris and the hulls of boats litter this fantastically atmospheric, bleak, shore line with a unique sense of history and untold story-lines.

this strange vehicle running ahead of the train to control the track. A cold and incommodious job!

Seen in Silverton, Colorado.

The end of the line. Still lots of snow along this shady portion

I was driving down the interstate when I spotted these rails gleaming. I went 2/3 mi. before I could turn around and drove back. I was mesmerized by their light.

I wish they would clear up this crap!
