These rails have been the only way from Europe to Asia for hundreds of years. Now it is being rebuilt. While I was taking pictures, there was an extensive construction nearby. That's why I wanted to make this scene immortal. HDR - Samsung NX-1000

This is a picture of the rails. The train and subway systems in Tokyo are complicated and not easily comprehended. It is a tiring way to get from one place to another, since traveling by rail involves switching lines, hurrying, waiting at stations, and sometimes standing as the train shifts and sways. Many people use the opportunity to catch a nap.

Unlike RailsConf 2006 there was a sizeable PC contingent at Rails Edge. In fact, no one at my table had a Macintosh. That didn't prevent any of us from feeling bitterly disappointed when we didn't win the MacBook Pro given away by 5runs. The winning ticket was 46394. I had 46391. If any of the people at my table see this photo, drop me a line or look me up on WorkingWithRails

This is a particular example of rail wear, with corrugation on the rail surface. The trams make a roaring noise as they go over. This is a well-known phenomenon, known as 'roaring rails'. It tends to recur when the rails are replaced.

Sitting in the back of a tramway. Stared at the window and ...snap! ^^
