This is where it all began. I spent two weeks following Rt 66 through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. It is interesting to see what happens when a new highway comes through and takes all the cars away from a popular tourist route. Some towns have managed to restore old attractions and excell and some towns are sadly totally wiped out. Rt 66 is very hard to follow as many areas of the famous route are now gone, especially near and in big cities. It was an experience, that is for sure. Traveled a lot of Rt. 66 to my end destination, Ruidoso, New Mexico. I had my favorite city and my second favorite place on Rt 66. One because it is amazing how they have restored so much and another because there is nothing left. All is falling down or out of business and very few people even live there anymore.
As the sun sets on RT operation at Harrow Weald, de-commissioned buses line up for their ultimate destination.
If I timed it right I could get an RT all the way home, if it was going beyond the Common. 1139 lasted until mid '78.
I really can't stop building these; they're just too much fun. I wanted to make more of a foldy one.
The RT-10 is used mostly by pirates to disable enemy starfighters and freighters before capturing. It is equipped with a powerful ion lance which can shut down most starfighters and even some larger ships. The RT-10 is also equipped with two electro-harpoon launchers which can be fired at the disabled craft to fry the pilot(s) and then later used for towing.
One particularly infamous squadron of pirates, the 'Storm Crows', were known for playing the song Rock You Like a Hurricane on all frequencies before descending on their prey. Thereafter the fighter became know as the "Hurricane".

I was messing around today and decided to try my hand at an AT-RT. As you probably know, I'm a real stickler for scale, especially with Starwars.
While RT 1202 waits to cover the normal route to Mill HIll, RT 1301 behind, with expert guidance, is readied for a trip via Cherry Lane Cemetery.
This route really ran through some country areas even though only a few miles from Romford. At Bournebridge on 12/10/68 is 'Top-Box' RT 3696, still with its cream cantrail, dropping off two passengers. The 175 route went through unusual allocation latterly , using RMA's in late '75 , back to RT's then eventually RM's in '77.

Manahawkin is on the right, Beach Haven West is in the center under the bridge and Atlantic City is on the left, way to the south across the bay. The bridge crosses the bay to Long Beach Island where I have been working once or twice a week since Hurricane Sandy to assess the damage to many of our customers elevator eguipment. It's been a really depressing and kind of numbing time, seeing all the unbelivable consequences of the storm. Leaving the Island last night just after sunset, I stopped where I have many times before, and spent awhile shooting some long exposures of the calm bay. It was so much nicer than anything I had seen all day.
AEC Society Rally 2022
Grimsby Corporation Transport 81, late 1946/47 RT-type AEC Regent III O961215, Roe H31/25R, JV9901.
Grimsby 81 is the only surviving example of a "Provincial-type RT". Withdrawn after twenty years service in August 1966, the RT has been owned by John Pitcher ever since. A late entry not in the programme, the 2022 AEC Rally was the first event the bus has attended for more than fifty years.
The RT was driven to and from the rally by Craig Schofield, who can normally be found behind the wheel of the fab Leyland Super National JMY120N. Craig positioned the RT for the cameras at the end of the day.
A remarkable entrant, and my pick for star of this year's show.

January 1975 saw the conversion to RMs of New Cross's two-bus allocation on route 151, a facility introduced in November 1972 to serve an expanding estate at Kidbrooke. RT 1648 (NX) is captured at Lee Green on a running in journey. Monday 1st July 1974. U-9.
T 792 and RT 604 by the former Ovaltine factory (now apartments) in King's Langley. I had volunteered to drive RT 604 on this trip from Watford Junction to give its regular driver a break. It has a lower-ratio 'Country' differential and thus is capable of a higher top speed than a regular RT. The engine pulls well and it can indeed shift along.
The HLX registration mark of both buses reveals that they are of the same vintage - 1948... although given LT's overhaul policy in which a bus might be outshopped with the same fleet number but a different chassis and body, it is highly unlikely that anything of RT 604 is associated with that original identity. Certainly the body when new was worn by a higher-numbered example.
RT2565 passes another RT (with another in the distance) in Cranbrook Road, Ilford on the 129 route on 7/5/74. This street seemed to contain various clocks. The 129 route went over to OMO in Oct'76.
