Emerging from Bromley garage on the long trek to Shoreditch is RT 3180 (TL) on the 47. This route along with the 94 was shared between Bromley and Catford garages. Tuesday 24th September 1974. 2A-5.
I'm not sure of the dates when this Bristol LS would have operated in the LT Country Area and I suspect it would not have lasted to 1967 (the year I am attempting to focus on). Any thoughts are welcome..
Upon conversion of route 89 to DMS operation on 22nd April 1978, Bexleyheath lost its last RTs. Almost a year earlier RT 1932 (BX) stops in Bridgen Road, Blendon. But Lewisham is behind you! Wednesday 18th May 1977. 3T-9.
On Sat & Sun 11th & 12th September 2010 there was a special event at the RAF museum, Hendon, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The museum was linked to Mill Hill Broadway and Colindale stations by genuine wartime buses - RTs 8 & 113 of 1940 and STL 441 of 1934.
RT1 was also there, but only for show, not in service. This was the first of about 7000 buses delivered between 1939 and 1954. The last wasn't withdrawn until 1979.
Seen from the platform of RT 4779 in Hounslow bus station/garage. This bus has the early RT3 roofbox body; buses so fitted tended to be disposed of by LT ahead of those with the later standard versions.

LondonBus France's Open top RT 4595, at la Place de la Republique Paris. An error by a painter left it with white colour band mouldings. However, the height of the London Transport transfers is not a mistake, they are higher than they should be to avoid road dirt and debris. I took this back to Clermont-Ferrand shortly after the photo was taken, RT 2329 also returned.
In about 1976 an RT is substituting for an RM on route 38 due to a desperate vehicle shortage. The 38 had been solidly Routemaster for many years, but by this time LT couldn't afford to be fussy and anything that could be persuaded to move was pressed into service.

Dunton Green's RT 640 had the honour of working the last 854 from Orpington to Ramsden Estate. The 854 was replaced by route 493 which became a one-way circular route around the estate. The last trip is caught here at Ramsden Estate. Friday 30th December 1966.
On 21st May 1977 a further omo conversion involved route 229 worked by Bexleyheath and Sidcup with RTs. In a complicated arrangement also involving route 51 and 51A, themselves not long since converted from RT to RM - the 229 was split up. Sidcup retaining a section of it, but using RMs with Bexleyheath receiving DMS's for new route 269. Three days before the changes, RT 4567 (SP) is seen in Murchison Avenue, Albany Park, itself a road not now served by buses. Wednesday 18th May 1977. 3T-11.
