On the way back we stopped at San Clemente to see the scavi, and at San Giovanni in Laterano. Here's Rita in front of the main doors of the Basilica, which are actually the doors of the ancient Roman Senate, the Curia Hostilia. Rita is hanging onto the little bronze acorns that project from the door. Local Roman legend has it that if a young married couple is trying to have children and want a maschile, the woman should make a pilgrimage to San Giovanni and touch these acorns!
