Introduced in 1966 as the third Chrysler powered Bristol model. Similar in appearance to the outgoing 408, the 409 differed from the older model with the use of much softer springs, improving the ride, the car also had an alternating current alternator in place of the traditional direct current dynamo, there was also a different differential unit. and was the first Bristol offered with power steering (at first optional), the styling was almost identical, though the radiator grille was now altered into a trapezoidal shape rather than the precise rectangle of the 408. The engine was the same capacity Chrysler V8 but with increased power and torque

1968 EWK M2 at the Technik-Museum Speyer.
Originally this was a amphibious vehicle based on the M2 that the Bundeswehr used. After continuous difficulties with the chassis it was converted into a boat in 1984. In 1992 it was taken out of service.

I sometimes wonder if the companies that make up Scandinavian Airlines have little arguments when deciding which aircraft is registered where.
This one almost proves the point because it was originally for delivery to SAS Danmark as OY-KKN, then it was going to SAS Norge as LN-RPN and then it was going to SAS Sverege as SE-DYC. Norway won and the aircraft was delivered to SAS Scandinavian Airlines as LN-RPL in Oct-00.
In Dec-04 Braathens was merged into SAS Norge and it became SAS / Braathens. In Jun-07 the company divided into its four parts (the fourth being Scandinavian Airlines International) and SAS / Braathens became Scandinavian Airlines Norge A/S.
In Oct-09 the companies were brought back together as SAS Scandinavian Airlines once again. The aircraft continued in operation until it was permanently retired at Marana, AZ, USA in Dec-19. It was broken up there in Apr-20. Updated 27-Oct-22.
