On Monday Ben had the day off work . .. and this is why I wanted to revisit those photos, because it was surreal. Gramps, Elsie and I were icing The Cake, Abby was wrapping presents and Ben had Roxy who appeared to be flying around the scene . . . and. . . Ben was not making faces at the camera - for once!
Tomorrow I am picking up Elsie from school and we are babysitting. Friday is Christmas meal day with my women's group and Saturday the family are all coming over for an evening meal . . . to celebrate Peter's birthday early because of jury service, which I am no longer doing!
So this means I shall be doing a major catch up next week . . .

usually after about 10 photos there's a wail: no more photos, Grangran . . . so I a feel lucky to have the choice of a few . . .
This is Roxy my new Kitten I had tried to get a rescue cat around 12 months or less but all were older and needed to have access to a garden Roxy will be a house cat :) She's just over 8 weeks.
Just a couple of shots with my Coolpix.

It is easier to take a photo of Roxy although she is either engrossed in an ipad or doing something that is simply not standing still! So on Monday I coaxed her in to the hall where she was suddenly struck by the large map of London - she was pointing out cemeteries to me which I couldn't really see as everything was much of a blur, so I took a few photos of her . . .
We have David and Linda coming to dinner this evening. Dvid and Peter were in the same hall of residence at Aberystwyth - so they are friends of long standing . . . . back soon

well, you'll never guess what naughty Gramps did! He broke Princess Elsa's tiara, and being the Gramps he is, he didn't put it on a shelf inform Queen Mummy of what happened, he went straight to the Princess herself and confessed. Oh, the silly knave! A little drama ensued, in which Elsie and I were treated to a face that would put thunder to shame and the retort: Gramps has made me very unhappy! I'm afraid Elsie and I sort of . . . smiled. Gramps was told: at this time of day I get very cross! And dear old Gramps arranged for not only a plastic crown be delivered but gloves and one or two ball items on the morrow. And today being the morrow, Roxy decided that maybe she should wait at home for the post rather than going to preschool. I doubt Queen Mummy was pleased with this, but Queen Mummy won the day and Roxy went to preschool . . . The crown has arrived. Phew! . . .
My brother had a pacemaker fitted yesterday and today a Support Worker went into see him and she will be linking up with Social Services. Tomorrow, all things being equal (which actually has more to do with M24,M40and A40 than measurements) we shall go to Glocuester to visit Christopher in hospital.
For anyone interested in what Gramps sent - the photo is in my favourites and will be recent for a day or two!

I love this for the empathy I feel with her - an inner world, contemplation, reflexion . . . and yet it as Michael Seidman said under the previous photo "and we look and wonder what it is she is seeing and how and what she's making of it. "

it seemed strange without Elsie, who is away this week on a school trip to Dorset . . . I think she is climbing, abseiling and kayaking among other things. She was so excited about it last week. So pleased the weather forecast is good for her

Elsie sucks her thumb when she is tired - and she was very tired after the weekend's excitement. I think she is going to teach her little sister many things!
I hope it won't be long before I'm back on flickr properly. Thanks to all who are still visiting - I really appreciate it.

we went over to east London today to collect Elsie from school and cook an evening meal. Elsie was torn between wanting to be with Roxy and wanting to play, so she did a bit of both.
The work here continues . . . and I hope to have a room of my own again in about a week's time . . . Thank to all of you who continue to visit and for your kind comments.

Singel 465-467, Amsterdam.
Gebouwd in 1912.
Architect: Evert Breman (1859-1926)

[EN] This building used to be nightclub RoXY, from 1987 until 1999. It burned down on the day of the funeral of Peter Giele, who was one of the initiators of the nightclub.
Club RoXY was one of the first nightclubs to play house music, and it attracted a lot of extravagent visitors.
After the fire the building has been restored. Nowadays there is a clothing shop on the ground floor.
In this video you can see some images of the fire, of 21st June 1999: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUTXB8gMLv4

It may look as if Roxy is jousting with Gramps (unbeknownst to him) but she is preparing to sew his sweater up . . .
back tomorrow . . . I have been sorting out a new camera bag as my trusty old one is now virtually zipless!
BGW's "Roxy." I was lucky enough to get a photo of her showing off her playful side.
Finishing touches created with Filter Forge's "Vibrance" (at 15%) and "Picture Effects" (20%).

Peter and I are trying to findd a way to see the family which meets all our needs. Peter and I are vulnerable, and so is Max and also Doug whom I see on Saturdays. Now the children are back at school, the tight BEARS unit is now riskier to visit. We have decided on an afternoon/evening to go over next week as long as there are no Covid alerts from the schools. And then we shall have 8- 10 days at least before we see Max and Doug . . . and then shall arrange another BEARS visit. Autumn and winter are going to be difficult. So many people in similar situations, or worse . . .
Roxy joined our family on March 28, 2007
She is a Bichapoo or Poochon - half Bichon Frise and half Poodle
She 9 weeks old, about 4 pounds, and very mischevious

upfront - I am having a few days off from flickr because of Corel. What happened is that Corel Paintshop 2019 disappeared from my computer at the same time as Corel were making a concerted effort for everyone to buy Paintshop 2020. The price on 2020 reduced to the extent Peter and I reckoned that the trouble of finding 2019 might not be worth the effort. So I decided to buy, reluctantly, 2020. As soon as I bought it, Paintshop 2019 returned to the computer. I am making no judgements, these are the facts. And then, because I am not very computer savvy, I had problems downloading Paintshop 2020. Peter joined in (and he is more computer savvy than me), without successs, so we got Corel involved, and neither Peter nor I could follow what they were saying, and they seemed reluctant to keep on trying. I have asked for a refund . . . and hopefully Paintshop 2019 will remain and I shall be happy again!
This is Roxy, playing peep-bo with me in a dark corner of the room yesterday. It is Elsie's height chart you can see on the door frame.
And if you have reached this far, I am having problems with my eyesight. The optician has referred me to a specialist because some of the nerves in my right eye (a long standing problem as far as I am concerned) are not connected to my brain. to my arm? to my foot? I am keeping this light, and shall be keeping on in the same way . . .
