it was a Roxy day today, but this is from Monday, when the weather was fine. The journey from north to east London is about 13 miles, I think. It normally takes me 35 mins at the time of day I'm travelling . . . the journey can take 25 mins, and at most 50 mins . . . this is London traffic. Today, it took me 2hours 20 mins. I had intended to take the train/tube/bus, but had been put off by a local weather/travel report mentioning delays. Heigh-ho, surely no delay would have taken me that long.
And now, I'm tired. Was home just after 5pm and then we went to vote in the referendum. I shall look through some of my Charleston photos and catch up as much as I can with your photos. Tomorrow we are going over to east London for my birthday meal (birthday earlier in the week) - so will be back properly on Saturday. Please, please may we still be in Europe! but that's the silly thing, we are a part of Europe however the vote goes . . .

Roxy joined our family on March 28, 2007
She is a Bichapoo or Poochon - half Bichon Frise and half Poodle
She 9 weeks old, about 4 pounds, and very mischevious

Roxy presented us with a picture on Saturday, declaring love to Grangran and Graps . . . later on we were subjected to being pupils in her class and were presented with a written sheet of what is good for us . . . froot . . . of course!

upfront - I am having a few days off from flickr because of Corel. What happened is that Corel Paintshop 2019 disappeared from my computer at the same time as Corel were making a concerted effort for everyone to buy Paintshop 2020. The price on 2020 reduced to the extent Peter and I reckoned that the trouble of finding 2019 might not be worth the effort. So I decided to buy, reluctantly, 2020. As soon as I bought it, Paintshop 2019 returned to the computer. I am making no judgements, these are the facts. And then, because I am not very computer savvy, I had problems downloading Paintshop 2020. Peter joined in (and he is more computer savvy than me), without successs, so we got Corel involved, and neither Peter nor I could follow what they were saying, and they seemed reluctant to keep on trying. I have asked for a refund . . . and hopefully Paintshop 2019 will remain and I shall be happy again!
This is Roxy, playing peep-bo with me in a dark corner of the room yesterday. It is Elsie's height chart you can see on the door frame.
And if you have reached this far, I am having problems with my eyesight. The optician has referred me to a specialist because some of the nerves in my right eye (a long standing problem as far as I am concerned) are not connected to my brain. to my arm? to my foot? I am keeping this light, and shall be keeping on in the same way . . .

Peter and I are trying to findd a way to see the family which meets all our needs. Peter and I are vulnerable, and so is Max and also Doug whom I see on Saturdays. Now the children are back at school, the tight BEARS unit is now riskier to visit. We have decided on an afternoon/evening to go over next week as long as there are no Covid alerts from the schools. And then we shall have 8- 10 days at least before we see Max and Doug . . . and then shall arrange another BEARS visit. Autumn and winter are going to be difficult. So many people in similar situations, or worse . . .

although this was taken on Monday, I want to add a journal story from yesterday when I went to look after the children while Abby went shopping . . . it was sweltering . . . and i managed to avoid taking part in Elsie's rather energetic looking yoga class by procrstinating with my morning coffee . . . in fact considering that it was into the 30s centigrade and the hottest day of the year, we all did very well . . . until 15 minutes before Abby reappeared. I am telling you off, Roxy shouted at Elsie, who had infringed Roxy's unknown law of being Roxy. Then she turned to me and said loudly, meaningfully . . . and you, you are a mistake.
I'd like to tell you all - if you ever find you are a mistake, laughing is not the right response. Not sure what is, but if you laugh I think you become a bigger mistake than you were before.
Today we have had a so far pathetic storm which hasn't even watered the garden properly . . . but it is cooler and I am able to sit up here in my office comfortably. So by the time I post this I will have done some catching up. We have friends coming round tomorrow evening, so back on Sunday.

Made Explore! Somehow I missed it. May 11th #468. It probably dropped off pretty fast that high. Oh well, I;'m thrilled anywyay.
Sarah has wanted a puppy of her own for a long time and we decided that now was the time. Roxy can't replace Tigger... but she has given my sweet Sarah a new little life to focus on.
She's a Long Coat Chi just like Lilo - who is in LOVE with her new buddy.
Roxy holding her tail in her bedroom this morning. She was the donkey in the nativity play at nursery. She wore a grey sweater and skirt and beige tights (I think)

Catching up is a slow process, and it seems that after the initial catch up I shall need to do another catch up to catch up . . .
we picked up Elsie from school today and spent the afternoon and evening over in east London. Roxy seemed to be having fun discovering her extremities . . . kicking her little feet. She is unfurling like a leaf in spring

already a thinker. Elsie is over the moon with her little sister.
I am perched at the kitchen counter doing this, so I'm afraid I'm not back on flickr yet, but felt I had to start off with Roxy's journal right away, so shall be posting a few pics

Roxy is a joy to sit next to at the table. She loves her food and is very sociable. It does mean, however, being alert, because she will make a grab for anything in reach and you can't rule out having food flicked at you. BUT, this evening it was even more hazardous having waitress Elsie serving gravy . . . we all watched with amazement as Abby said, yes, she would like gravy and Elsie accidentally poured it into her lap!

I have gone back to our day at the Tate to find a couple of pics of Roxy - just to even things up a bit!

Roxy has a cold. We picked up her from pre school yesterday and she confided to me that she had a cold and announced to the class at large that she was coping by wiping her nose on her sleeve! (too young to be wearing her heart there!)

from last year. We are not seeing the girls until Monday, they have been away at Abby's brother for the new year . . . in Norfolk - feeding sheep, riding on the tractor, chopping down trees . . .

we had a birthday meal for Elsie last night and she opened her presents on the eve of her birthday as the family were going on an outing to Margate today.
when I arrived Roxy took me by the hand and said - my darling come and sit here . . . which amused both me and Ben

On Monday Ben had the day off work . .. and this is why I wanted to revisit those photos, because it was surreal. Gramps, Elsie and I were icing The Cake, Abby was wrapping presents and Ben had Roxy who appeared to be flying around the scene . . . and. . . Ben was not making faces at the camera - for once!
I am picking up Elsie from school today and we are babysitting. Tomorrow is Christmas meal day with my women's group and Saturday the family are all coming over for an evening meal . . . to celebrate Peter's birthday early because of jury service, which I am no longer doing!
So this means I shall be doing a major catch up next week . . .

Roxy was seven on Monday and we had the second of her three celebrations. The first took place over half term when 5 families went camping which included 3 boys from Roxy’s class at school, Her actual birthday was the second with us and the third is on Friday after school when a few girls are coming to tea. How wise of Abby to have the boy party while camping!

this makes me think about the difference between the experience of the two sisters. Elsie has always had friends of her own age, but never someone living at home. Roxy has always lived with the whirlwind that is Elsie, who breezes in and scoops her up, and as in this instance kisses her. Roxy saves her true laughs for Elsie. She literally chuckles when Elsie is about.
we are going to the Roundhouse tomorrow to see Until the Lions - a Christmas present from Abby. Back soon . .

catching up is slow, courtesy of computer being slow.
The double glazing in east London met with mishap today when one of the young men fell off his ladder from a first floor window. A medic arrived on a bike, an ambulance, the air ambulance and the police. Ben was at home and put a pillow under the man's head and covered him with blanket, Abby sat down beside him to reassure him he was still breathing.
It appears that he has broken ribs and done something to a leg. Hopefully nothing too serious and nothing internal, but obviously painful and will take time to heal.

and indeed for a 4 year old she is pretty fearless on the trapeze . . . she spent the weekend watching Elsie at the Circus on the hoop so wanted to make sure I was equally impressed with her. Such a sweetie - today she graduated from nursery!

this is from Monday.
We had a lovely meal with Julie and Peter last night and played a great table tennis match with Claire and Earl this afternoon - women v men!
This year we seem to have a family cold and it has been going round all of us (except Max thankfully) - Ben, Abby, Elsie, Roxy, Gramps and me. Since the beginning of December at any one time at least two, if not three, of us have a cold.
Catching up under way.
