There are those who believe this may become the newest Olympic competition. Rodeos have calf roping and lassoing, but there is no sport in the summer Olympics to rival that.
The idea here is to:
1. Rope your tree from a designated distance ( to be determined by the Olympic Committee).
2. Rush over and secure your tree by wrapping the rope securely around it.
3. Tie it off with a sheep shank, a Spanish bowline or a sheet bend knot ( to be determined by the Olympic Committee).
This not not an easy competition because it requires the competitors to have a knowledge of nautical knots as well as roping. It has yet ( to be determined by the Olympic Committee) if the entrants will be on horseback.
There is another theory that since this is not on the water, it may be the site where Boris Badenov and Natasha tied Li’l Nell up to trap Dudley Do-Right. Because there are no railroad tracks in the area, this is a plausible scenario.
Lastly, it could just be a yard decoration, but I doubt that!
Happy Texture Tuesday!

Instead of moving the flash further away, I took this by cranking down the EV level. SB900 camera right at level of rope, bare--fired by pop-up flash.
While visiting Lake Murray State Park in southern Oklahoma, we were paid a visit by this lovely mockingbird. He decided to sit and watch us from this rope that we had been using to dry our wet clothes.

Landguard Point in Suffolk, UK. Sometimes it's noticing the little things next to the very big things they pay dividends. This twisted rope caught my eye as i walked down to the wrecked rail jetty. I stopped and weighed up the situation and decided i would commit my blue hour time to this comp over the iconic and ever popular jetty comp. For me this simple comp works perfectly, the twisted weathered rope and beach faded posts works so well with the swelling sea and pretty scattered cloud sky.
Taken with a Pentacon Electric 50mm f1.8, I've had this lens for some time, but kept on ignoring it for my Helios 44-2. I was pleasantly surprised with how sharp this lens is and will definitely be using it more.
This is from a series where i've been wanting to explore minimalism and black & white photography more. I choose some abandoned boats covered in chains and old rope as a good subject.
Hope you like 👍

Team roping, the only true team event in ProRodeo, requires close cooperation and timing between two highly skilled ropers – a header and a heeler – and their horses. The event originated on ranches when cowboys needed to treat or brand large steers and the task proved too difficult for one man. Russian River Rodeo, Duncans Mills, CA. June 24, 2018
