A morning at Gibside National Trust managed to capture a few photo's of roe deer running around a meadow.
Roe-deer.
We see this too often, a loose dog chasing some Roe Deer on a nature reserve. The Roe Deer managed to get away thankfully.
A nice morning spent with photography in the western part of the Great Plains of Hungary. With the sun rising and the T-storm just passing, the light was simply amazing, creating a nice composition to capture the roe deers.

Another shot from my wonderful early morning encounter with some roe deer bucks, Nymphenburger Schlosspark, Munich, Germany
The roe became extinct in England during the 18th century, but survived in woodland in parts of the Central and North West Highlands. Many populations have been reintroduced in England and there are now an estimated 500,000 roe deer in Britain. Piture taken at Strathbeg, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Capreolus capreolus
I approached this doe, along with her fawn, from a distance of maybe 300 metres. The final range from me to this animal was maybe 15-20 metres. I walked slowly down the edge of the field, directly towards them. I've noticed many times now that you can approach roe deer as long as you move very slowly directly towards them. Their depth perception is apparently very poor.
The roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), also called the European roe deer to distinguish it from the Siberian roe deer, is the most common and smallest deer species in Europe. As a deer, it is more closely related to the reindeer, elk, and American white-tailed deer than to the red deer, also native to Central Europe.
The deer originally inhabited forest edges and clearings. However, it has successfully developed a range of very different habitats and now also occurs in open, almost coverless agricultural steppes. Startled roe deer usually seek shelter in thickets with a few quick jumps, it is therefore and due to some morphological characteristics assigned to the so-called "hatchling type". Deer are ruminants and are called selectors because they prefer to eat food rich in protein. During the summer months, deer live mainly singly or in small groups consisting of a doe and her fawns; in winter, herds form, usually consisting of more than three or four animals. Deer living in the open agricultural landscape form herds of more than twenty animals.
Roe deer are subject to hunting laws, where they are classified as cloven-hoofed game and small game. The annual hunting range in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany alone is more than one million head. Due to its behavioral characteristics, it plays no role in agricultural game management.
The roe deer was chosen by the German Wildlife Foundation as the animal of the year 2019.

Capreolus capreolus
The buck (2nd from right) has already lost his velvet. Today is the 2nd of April.
Capreolus capreolus
This guy didn't know I was there. He was relaxed, but alert, there were people coming down the hill behind me and he could hear their voices. He stood and listened for maybe 2 minutes before calmly trotting off into the swamp behind him.
Whilst walking along my local canal yesterday I saw these three Roe Bucks and a Doe in an adjacent field.
Its unusual to see them out in the open like this in the middle of the day as they are a very nervous and wary species.
Hiding behind a hedge I managed to get close enough for a few shots but the bright sun was directly behind them so I didn't expect to get any usable shots.
Not the best shot I have ever taken but I was pleased that I managed to retain some detail in the deer.
Here you can see they have just sensed my presence and seconds later they made off in the other direction.
Taken yesterday in Devon.
