Roe deer buck after a snow shower, Bavaria, Germany

Hyde's Heath, Dorset

Capreolus capreolus

Fleeting moment of a pair through the trees before they became aware of me and vanished into the thicket.

Since I last saw this guy his antlers have grown by a couple of inches, but no sign of a red nose yet!

Somewhat amazed this afternoon when this Roe Deer casually walks right up to me on my shooting stick, sniffs me and carries on feeding close by. Next to no cropping on these images

Taken New Forest National Park, Hampshire

Including a rare black roe deer.

Legend says that a hunter who shoots a black roe deer is likely to die within a year, so a black roe deer is one lucky bastard.

First she drank from it then when she saw me, she went back but then dicided to cros the water and that was a fine moment to take this photo.

Taken in the car, not quite as sharp as I intended.

A roe doe that is regularly seen in a field off Greenway lane with a buck and her two half grown kids.

I was out this morning and spotted this Roe Buck walking alongside a tumbledown wall. I noticed that he kept sticking his tongue out and tasting the air trying to catch the scent of a doe. The peak rutting season for Roe Deer is mid July to the end of August. Pregnancy lasts for 300 days, but the first half of this is embryonic diapause when development is put on hold. They normally give birth during May and the first half of June, usually twins. This male was starting to climb over the broken wall but paused and looked back when he heard my camera, so I got the eye contact I was after. I think this is a young male as his antlers are pretty small, even for a Roe. And that hind leg looks extraordinarily long to me, almost as if it is on stilts.

Roe on the Mendip hills.

Capreolus capreolus

Horsell Common Surrey England

On a golf course early morning

Father keeping watch over his little family.

So nice to get close to these wonderful animals.

They seem way less intimidated by a motionless body laying on the field than by a standing human. Their curiosity even pushing them to get as close as thirty meters from the unidentified object ..

Even no need for a hiding tent !

Feeding close to a public path at Baron's Haugh...there were a few dogs about...he was not bothered

Utrecht, The Netherlands. Just enough light left to photograph this lady.

A Roe Deer taking a low water walk at Keyhaven

A late evening waiting for the deer to show, then out pop two fawns, they soon got wind of me and ran back into the cover, to late I'd got my shots.

My favourite roe deer is back in the woods. I've been fortunate to have seen him on a regular basis for almost five years now.

This female Roe Deer came out of the undergrowth and walked across in front of the hide, followed closely by a youngster. Such a privilege to see these beautiful animals.

Looking down into a field hence the pov.

Thanks for stopping by.
