Last week, I was visiting the Lake of the Ozarks, right in the middle of Missouri. This spring fed creek was found in Ha Ha Tonka, State Park. The water was so warm from all the broiling hot days we've had, that first thing every morning, Steam would rise off the surface of the lake.
That etherial looking cloud hanging over the right part of this creak was that rising steam.

The Milky Way rising above the horizon, from Cleeve Common in the Cotswolds, UK.
The result could be better from a place with less light pollution but I am happy with this first picture this year.

La Voie Lactée 🌌 s'élève sur l'horizon - photo prise depuis Cleeve Common, dans les Cotswolds en Angleterre. Le résultat serait meilleur avec moins de pollution lumineuse mais je suis satisfait de ce résultat.
Did a bit of stock clean-up yesterday. This is syrup that had extended its life time by a year.
A nice opportunity to play a bit with the aperture for flash settings. This one (f/22) worked best with the subject.
Thanks again to Joost for the flash tips.
And submitted to CWD for the "Circle" assignment.
As the day begins, we get to decide how we want to paint the colours of the day by choosing what emotions lead us through the events of the day. I hope it's a happy day today.
Wittdün, Amrum, 2019.
Recently, I read that if both pole caps melted, the sea level would rise 67 meters. Think about it. How many billions of people would die or be forced to flee? How would that impact the landscapes of the world? So much suffering, so much beauty lost.
Even if the sea level rose only 5 meters, this would have devastating consequences for my favorite landscape, Frisian islands, and among them, my favorite place on the planet, the island of Amrum where I took this series of landscape photographs.

Venus Rising - Redux
This is a re-edit of a photo from a year ago. Venus, the bright object in the sky that looks like a star and casting light on the ocean, was rising along side the Galactic Center of the Milky Way early last year. I wasn't happy with the original edit, it had some color balancing I didn't like and some blend problems. My goal was to re-do the color balance so it was more natural but the natural colored sky in this shot was a pale brown-orange due to light pollution to the south, so I cooled it down again and made it blue. Not quite the real color but it looks a whole lot more pleasing and dramatic. I'm still not 100% happy with it, maybe I'll edit it again in another year...
