Weird enough some people think they can get respect by using violence.. I'm glad i never tried that so I got my respect by being myself and have faith in humanity.. With this (old and fake) gun I tried to say, how old (gun) or young (hand) you are doesn't matter, but show respect to eachother!!
At the sametime, when you use product with respect it will last longer.. The gun is old, (rust and stuff) but it still works! (Smoke)..

Looks bigger LARGE, the new web sharpen I do seems to look a little ordinary when the image is small and not at 1100px!
On my travels through Tasmania I was told by another Flickr friend to visit the Table Cape Tulip fields between Stanley and Wynyard (technically part of Wynyard).
Whilst the season was almost over, these few rows remain. In it's peak, the Tulip Fields look stunning and line all those hills, and they don't keep the flowers would you believe it? They only keep the bulbs that they harvest after the flowers bloom and then send then overseas!
I pulled up a little sad as no rolling hills full of tulips. But I headed down anyway to check out the fields. Some rain came in and I packed up camera with a few alright shots and I thought, it's only light, broken clouds, windy, hmmm rainbow chance here - so I waited for few mins and voila a rainbow appeared, perfect as I could get.
-----------
I'm lucky to be heading to Tasmania again in Easter for a holiday with some photography added in. I'm well overdue for a break without the pressures of the 4am starts!
------------
I'd also like to open a discussion.
A post on a website I recently joined had a topic on a person heading to Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake in Tasmania and trying not to get a cliched shot that's been done many times before.
I thought about this and came back with this reply, a reply that I felt literally pour out of me and is something I feel very passionately about, so I'd really like to share it with you all and see what you think:
I wouldn't stress so much about getting a "non cliched" shot. Go there, try your best to get a shot that makes YOU feel good ;)
If it bares resemblance to another persons shot, then that's how it is. Don't dismiss it as "already done, cant take that shot". It's how you saw and felt the scene when you were there, that's the important part ;) You got up early or stayed late and the shot will be the fruits of your efforts, and people will respect that a lot.
So let your creativity drive you when you're standing there at Dove Lake! Get the cliched shot and maybe try something else if it feels right.
I've spent too much time myself trying to find that "un cliched" photograph of many places and wasted great light. Sometimes you find it by hard work and planning sure, or you take a "cliched" shot that spoke to you on the day. I bet if you took an identical shot of a Dove Lake scene to someone else but you add a story and describe how passionately you loved that scene at that very moment in time, then you've made your own great photograph to share.
Deep huh? ;)
Cheers
Matt

"Ari is my hero ever since he sat by my doggy gate when I was a little puppy and would let me put my paw through and touch him and he would stick his long nose in and nuzzle me.
He lets me run with him but I do need to be respectful. His sister, Vixen, growls when I chase her but not Ari. He's a certified, written about in newpapers, hero too, a retired sheriff's deputy dog. I love him - wish he lived closer - he's family."

Ann always has a serious look when she poses for fashion photos; that's her own style and I respect and appreciate that. It's a bit like on the catwalk: no smiles allowed in public, only behind the scenes. Personally I have a different style though: I love to show the joy of femininity and usually include lots of smiles in my pictures. So with Ann I usually make some extra photos in between the posed ones, when she's kind of unaware and shows her joy and pretty smile. This is one of such photos, when Ann is happily rearranging her dress and skirt and not paying attention to the camera. Click, got you, and absolutely adore your wonderful happy smile!
"Above and Beyond" is the name of this exhibit at the George Washington Library in Chicago- Chicago Public Library. It is a tribute to 58,000 soldiers who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The dog tags are replicates and are suspended from the ceiling over the escalators. This piece of art was created by veteran artists and was too cool to not capture with my camera. I gazed at it from different angles for quit a while. Go check it out.

In reality the mitigation of moral laws—to the extent it is not illusory—can represent an intrinsic superiority only on two conditions: first, that it confers a concrete advantage on society; and second, that it is not obtained at the cost of what gives meaning to life; respect for the human person must not open the door to a dictatorship of error and baseness, to the crushing of quality by quantity, to general corruption and the loss of cultural values, for if it does so it is, in relation to the ancient tyrannies, merely an opposite extreme and not the norm. When humanitarianism is no more than the expression of an over-valuation of the human at the expense of what is divine or the crude fact at the expense of truth, it cannot possibly be counted as a positive acquisition; it is easy to criticize the “fanaticism” of our ancestors when one has lost the very notion of saving truth, or to be “tolerant” when one derides religion. Whatever the morality of the Babylonians may have been, it must not be forgotten that certain kinds of behavior depend largely on circumstances and that collective man always remains a sort of wild animal, at least in the “Iron Age”: the conquerors of Peru and Mexico were no better than Nebuchadnezzar, Cambyses, or Antiochus Epiphanus, and one could find analogous examples in the most recent history. Religions can reform the individual man with his consent—and it is never the function of religion to make up for the absence of this consent—but no one can bring about a fundamental
change in that “thousand-headed hydra” which is collective
man, and this is why nothing of the kind has ever been the aim of any religion; all that a revealed Law can do is curb the egoism and ferocity of society by channeling its tendencies more or less effectively.
The goal of religion is to transmit to man a symbolic, yet adequate, image of the reality that concerns him, according to his real needs and ultimate interests, and to provide him with the means of surpassing himself and realizing his highest destiny; this destiny can never be of this world, given the nature of our spirit. The secondary goal of religion—with a view to the principal goal—is to make possible a sufficient equilibrium in the life of the collectivity or to safeguard within the framework of the natural malice of men a maximum of spiritual opportunities; if society must be protected against the individual, the individual for his part must be protected against society. There is endless talk about “human dignity”, but it is rather too often forgotten that “noblesse oblige”; dignity is invoked in a world that is doing everything to empty it of its content and thus to abolish it. In the name of an indeterminate and unconditional “human dignity”, unlimited rights are conceded to the basest of men, including the right to destroy everything that goes to make our real dignity, that is to say, everything on every plane that attaches us in one way or another to the Absolute. Of course truth obliges us to condemn the excesses of the aristocracy, but we can see no reason at all why it should not also confer a right to judge contrary excesses.

I've done the rubberbands before, but I just couldn't help myself...finding inspiration in this track wasn't difficult, considering it has Jay-Z, Dj Kool, Ice Cube, Eminem, etc....but when I heard the name of the song by The Spinners, I just had to do this.
And for the record, the best rubberband shot ever is still right here....

"This view that women are somehow inferior to men is not restricted to one religion or belief. Women are prevented from playing a full and equal role in many faiths. Nor, tragically, does its influence stop at the walls of the church, mosque, synagogue or temple. This discrimination, unjustifiably attributed to a Higher Authority, has provided a reason or excuse for the deprivation of women's equal rights across the world for centuries. At its most repugnant, the belief that women must be subjugated to the wishes of men excuses slavery, violence, forced prostitution, genital mutilation and national laws that omit rape as a crime. But it also costs many millions of girls and women control over their own bodies and lives, and continues to deny them fair access to education, health, employment and influence within their own communities.... The truth is that male religious leaders have had -- and still have -- an option to interpret holy teachings either to exalt or subjugate women. They have, for their own selfish ends, overwhelmingly chosen the latter."

The Kiss Goodbye to Multiple Sclerosis campaign closes out on the theme - MS Awareness. I have been humbled by this experience and the ways in which I have been supported to raise awareness about this disease.
With my deepest gratitude, I pay my respects to:
each of you that has followed this campaign - your words of encouragement, sharing your deeply personal stories and the way in which you have supported my pledge through your views, comments and faves. With one day of viewing left, my pledge is $759.60. I will announce the final result tomorrow at the end of the international day for 31 May 2013.
each of you that helped to raise awareness through the pledge to kiss goodbye group. So many beautiful pictures, so much creativity! Based on a count yesterday afternoon, the 382 photos there have received over 44 thousand views. Can we make it 400 photos by the end of the day? In some countries around the world, the group even appeared on the front page of yahoo. Raising awareness can be done through small individual actions - if there was ever a reason to believe that change can be made though the collective power of an individual's small action then this is one example.
to those of you who extended your generosity by making a donation to my fund raising page. Thank you does not cover my appreciation enough.
to Marty and M8 who are my pillars of support in sickness and in health.
and finally I pay my respects to my disease that has taught me so much about life. Multiple sclerosis has given me such an awareness about what is important for this day, and in this moment - and for those reasons, I consider myself truly blessed.

There is a supermassive black hole in the center of NGC 3783, a barred spiral galaxy located about 135 million light years away in the constellation Centaurus. It has a bar structure across the center and tightly-wound spiral arms. Although not shown by this classification, observers note the galaxy has a luminous inner ring surrounding the bar structure. The bright compact nucleus is active and categorized as a Seyfert 1 type. This nucleus is a strong source of X-ray emission and undergoes variations in emission across the electromagnetic spectrum.
The source of the activity in this galaxy is a rapidly rotating supermassive black hole, which is located at the core and is surrounded by an accretion disk of dust. The estimated mass of this black hole is 8.7 million solar masses. Interferometric observations yield an inner radius of 0.52 light years for the orbiting torus of dust.[
This is a member of a loose association of 47 galaxies known as the NGC 3783 group. Located at a mean distance of 117 million light-years. The NGC 3783 group has a mean velocity of about 2,903 km/s with respect to the Sun.

At this time of year I always like to post photos as a way of showing my respect to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Taken at a local war memorial it was nice to see a father and daughter also sharing that respect.

British experts who have been visiting Thai schools here have been struck by the positive attitude of students, the absence of discipline problems, and the strong focus on Thai culture combined with deep respect for other cultures. It's the mutual respect between adult and student that comes from the Buddhist culture. The good behaviour and respect to others is inculcated in their culture. They greeted their teachers with the big smiles and respectful bow which is the essence of the traditional wai hello. The day starts with a whole-school, outdoor listening and singing the nationa anthem and a Buddhist ceremony which appeared to set the tone for the meditative calm of the rest of the school day. In Thailand, the national anthem or phleng chat is played twice a day at 8 o’clock in the morning and again at 6 o’clock in the evening. Phleng chat literally means national song and Phleng chat thai refer to the Thai national anthem.
photo taken of a Thai school kids at the Wat Phra Si Sanphet - Historical park of Ayutthaya. The Thai students get outdoor education with connections to geography, science, maths and today history lessons on the spot!
The national song is not only played at school but also on all radio and tv stations, bus stations and other public areas. People who hear the anthem will automatically stop what they are doing to stand and salute the flag. Even commuters rushing around on the skytrain will pause to show respect while the national anthem is played. The respect for staff is highlighted on teachers' day, when every student brings in elaborate flower arrangements for their teachers. As the school's head said: "We want them to love their own culture."In some Thai schools they have their own Thai culture centre. This may be a single room but sometimes it is a suite of rooms plus a magnificent museum, open to the public. Students learn about Thai poetry, song, history, food, flowers and, of course, about Buddhism. But this does not just involve formal lesson times. They follow regular cultural activities like above in the historical park of Ayutthaya.

This site is very close to a major phosphate mine. In the early days with little environmental control, production was of a scale sufficient to support transport of the extracted ore to Flying Fish Cove by train, where it was transferred to ships for export. The operation relied heavily on Chinese labourers, who built many temples around the island.
