We were going to see Massive Attack at the Royal Festival Hall on the same day (it transpired) as the London flickr meet up, organised by squirrelmonkey and George on behalf of flickr. There had already been talk of a Bristol:London meet-up by sjnewton and it seemed practical to 'kill two birds with one stone' as it were.
We followed the trail of pink and blue balloons and met up for the Tate Modern Street Art Walking Tour around Southwark, along with a vast number of other flickr'rs. There was time for pictures along the Embankment at the end of the walk, before the inevitable pub meet up. It was so well organised that we even had a free drink (mine's a large Pinot Grigio please!) and a vast array of sandwiches for lunch. We met loads of people - swapped film and photography stories and generally had a good time.

Taken with my lovely, if somewhat idiosyncratic Supersampler - 4 lenses take 4 shots onto 1 negative over 2 seconds. Completely plastic, no control whatsoever and no viewfinder - you just wave it about and hope for the best - these days, I've even learned to point it at things and keep it still! ;)

This is a photograph from the SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon 2017 which was held in Dublin Ireland on Sunday 29th of October 2017 at 09:00. This year is the second year since the organisers decided to move the marathon from its traditional Bank Holiday Monday slot to Sunday. This proved to be an incredible success with yet again one of the largest field ever for the marathon in Dublin. The weather was absolutely perfect with ideal running conditions for the marathon with just some windy spots around the route. Temperatures were around 10 - 13C.

Can I use these photographs directly from Flickr on my social media account(s)?

The explaination is very simple.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

For the second time I was asked by the President of Malta, George Abela to work on this project to raise money for the Malta Community Chest Fund. Again, Musical Director, Sigmund Mifsud had chosen and orchestrated a series of rock classics pieces to be played by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The Rockestra show took place on the 12th September at the MFCC. Again they sold out at 12,500 people. This is the largest indoor event ever held in Malta. It is also the event of the year were local artists can play to this size of incredibly enthusiastic crowd.
The evening included pieces by Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Eagles and John Miles, so had a strong 70’s leaning and I wanted to reflect that in the imagery.

Respect the Classics/Virgin (2014, Reissue)
Every Wednesday, in honor of Ed Lover Dance Day from Yo MTV Raps, I take a break from rock and roll to write a little bit about hip hop. In the late 80s and early 90s hip hop ruled my musical life. During this often called 'Golden Era' I discovered so much incredible music. As I am slowly replacing the CDs I've had for 25+ years with vinyl copies, I'm going to talk about some albums that had a really important impact on me during some very formative years.
For two albums, Gang Starr could arguably be designated as the greatest hip hop group of all time. Daily Operation and this album, Hard Two Earn, comprise one of the hardest one-two punches in rap history. While I think that Daily Operation is ever so slightly a stronger overall record, Hard To Earn has higher highs and is home to most of my very favorite Gang Starr songs. One of those songs is the first I heard from the album, "Dwyck." Dwyck was released as a video and single way before the full album did and I remember being kind of confused as I couldn't figure out where it came from.
I grew up in a rural town in northwestern New Jersey. We couldn't get TV or radio over the air because we were way too far away from the local affiliates broadcasting out of New York City. We had to have cable in order to get TV. What I did was I spliced off the cable from my 9" television in my room and fed it into my stereo. For reasons I can't totally explain, this allowed me to get all of the NY radio stations. This is how I would listen to the Kool DJ Red Alert Show on KISS FM. During one of Red's shows, I managed to tape "Dwyck" off of the radio and for the longest time, that was the only version I had. Even today, when I listen to the album version, my brain starts to hear the mixing and segue into the next song that was present on my tape.
"Dwyck" is but one of many incredible tracks on Hard to Earn. "Mass Appeal," "Tonz o Gunz," "Speak Ya Clout" or "Now You're Mine" would probably be the best tracks on just about any hip hop album of the era, but on Hard To Earn, they're all fighting each other just to be the second best song on the album. The best? Well for me that has to go to "Blowin' Up the Spot." Over arguably the greatest beat of DJ Premier's career, Guru just blasts through word bending lyrics building rhyme on top of rhyme in a structure that probably doesn't make sense on paper, but in the song itself is essentially a masterpiece of self aggrandizing bravado.
1994 was the year that I started to fall out of love with hip hop as I was getting more interested in indie rock and punk rock. But between this album and Casual's 1994 classic Fear Itself, the year definitely had two all time greats to help close out my participation in the golden era of hip hop.

Respect League is a not-for-profit group of junior football clubs that have come together to give children the best possible start in football. The League is leading the way in fully implementing The FA's vision for children's football and there whole approach is more child-centered and age-appropriate than traditional Leagues.
They give children the ideal environment to accelerate their learning. The FA have awarded them Charter Standard status and they've won the coveted Bronze Award as the best League in the whole county !
The referees are trained to 'manage' the game rather than just blow a whistle. This means they're talking to the players throughout, encouraging them, advising and helping them to avoid foul play. It's calm, safe and fun. Oh, and the football is fantastic!

Sunday, 9 November 2014: thousands of motorcyclists, north and south, gather at meeting points around London's M25 and Manchester's M60 to take part in the "Ring of Red" a remembrance event in memory of members of the armed forces who have given their lives in the service of their country.
These were some of the scenes at Thurrock Services in Essex, one of the principle assembly points on the orbital M25 motorway around London, where riders and passengers dressed in red would set out to form a Ring of Red' around the capital, on the Remembrance Sunday, just two days ahead of the 2014 Armistice Day which would mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Both this London event and its sister event around Manchester's M60, were strongly aimed towards fund-raising for armed services charities, and showing a mark of respect to the fallen.
