Terrible lighting inside the gym during night time - had to boost my ISO to 8000 most of the time to get half decent exposure at a shutter speed of 1/250 or 1/350 (usually sports photography is done at 1/1000). The result is a lot of grain but it's still a nice action shot none the less. In future I will be experimenting with a maximum ISO of 1600, a slower shutter speed and an aftermarket flash.
Na tarde da última sexta-feira (10.11), o Tribunal Regional do Trabalho da 19ª Região (TRT/AL) realizou a cerimônia solene de entrega da Comenda da Ordem do Mérito Ministro Silvério Fernandes de Araújo Jorge. Na edição deste ano, 24 personalidades foram condecoradas em razão dos relevantes serviços prestados à sociedade em suas respectivas áreas de atuação. O evento aconteceu na sala de sessões do Fórum Pontes de Miranda, sede do Regional Trabalhista.
Estiveram presentes à sessão magistrados, procuradores, empresários, advogados, servidores e políticos, entre eles, o governador do Estado de Alagoas, Renan Filho. O discurso de abertura foi proferido pelo presidente do TRT/AL, desembargador Pedro Inácio da Silva. O magistrado enfatizou que a solenidade faz parte das comemorações dos 25 anos de instalação do Tribunal Regional do Trabalho de Alagoas.
“É com alegria que prestamos essa homenagem a magistrados, autoridades do Poder Legislativo e do Executivo, bem como a professores, religiosos, empresários, artistas, sindicalistas, advogados, médicos, profissionais liberais, enfim, pessoas que nas suas áreas se destacaram pelos relevantes serviços prestados”, observou Pedro Inácio.
Em seguida, o presidente do TRT/AL frisou que a atuação do Tribunal não está restrita a processos e nem voltada para si mesmo. Segundo ele, o diálogo com a sociedade é importante e necessário. “Por isso, atuamos em ações como o combate ao trabalho infantil, a preocupação com o meio ambiente, a conscientização sobre a importância da saúde e segurança no local de trabalho, a preservação da história da Justiça do Trabalho em Alagoas, por meio do Memorial Pontes de Miranda, entre outras”, acrescentou.
Condecoração - As insígnias no Grau Grã-Cruz foram entregues pelo desembargador Pedro Inácio da Silva. Os homenageados nessa categoria foram o desembargador presidente do TRT da 2ª Região e do Colégio de Presidentes e Corregedores da Justiça do Trabalho (Coleprecor), Wilson Fernandes; a desembargadora presidente do TRT da 5ª Região, Maria Adna Aguiar do Nascimento; a deputada estadual por Alagoas, Jó Pereira; o secretário de Saúde do Estado de Alagoas, Carlos Christian Reis Teixeira; o vice-presidente da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (seccional Alagoas), Ednaldo Maiorano de Lima; a artista plástica Maria Verônica Rodrigues Calheiros; o médico Paulo César Pereira Valões e o empresário José Hipólito Correia Costa.
No Grau Mérito Ouro, as insígnias foram entregues pela desembargadora Vanda Lustosa, vice-presidente do TRT/AL, às seguintes personalidades: juízes do TRT/AL, Luiz Sávio de Lima Gazzanéo (titular da 2ª VT de União dos Palmares) e Kassandra Nataly de Andrade Carvalho Lima (substituta); juíza de Direito titular da 28ª Vara Cível da Infância e Juventude da Comarca de Maceió/AL, Maria Lúcia de Fátima Barbosa Pirauá; ao advogado Luciano André Costa de Almeida e ao especialista em Direito Sanitário Ednaldo Balbino da Silva (in memoriam), representado por sua filha, Carolina Balbino; ao industrial José Carlos Correia Maranhão; e ao professor da Universidade Federal de Alagoas, Osvaldo Batista Acioly Maciel.
O desembargador Antônio Catão fez a entrega aos homenageados no Grau Mérito Prata: os servidores Diógenes de Macedo Veras, Frederico Guilherme de Oliveira Gomes, Mônica Maria do Rêgo Raposo, Márcia Cristina Leite de Oliveira e Fabrício Rosa Maciel Barbosa. Também integraram a lista o advogado Adriano Costa Avelino; o prior do Mosteiro Discípulo Amado, monge João Batista; o presidente do Sindicato dos Urbanitários de Alagoas, Nestor Silva Powell, e a educadora Rubiane Sousa. (09).
Outras cinco personalidades também foram agraciadas, mas não puderam comparecer por motivo de força maior. Foram elas: a ministra do Tribunal Superior do Trabalho, Delaíde Alves Miranda Arantes; o procurador-geral do Trabalho, Ronaldo Curado Fleury; e o juiz do Trabalho aposentado do TRT da 6ª Região, Theodomiro, Romeiro dos Santos - todos no Grau Grã-Cruz; No Grau Mérito, a auditora Fiscal do Trabalho, Railene Cunha Gomes, e o médico Manoel Álvaro de Freitas Lins Neto.
Autoridades – A mesa de honra foi integrada pelos desembargadores do TRT/AL, Pedro Inácio da Silva, Vanda Lustosa, Antonio Catão, João Leite de Arruda Alencar Eliane Arôxa; Marcelo Vieira; Anne Helena Fisher Inojosa, e Laerte Neves de Souza.
Também fizeram parte da mesa o governador de Alagoas, Renan Filho; o presidente do Coleprecor, desembargador presidente do TRT da 2ª Região, Wilson Fernandes; os desembargadores dos TRT da 1ª e 5ª Regiões, José Luiz Campos Xavier e Maria Adna Aguiar; o procurador chefe do Ministério Público do Trabalho da 19ª Região, Rafael Gazzanéo; o vice-presidente da OAB/AL, Ednaldo Maiorano; o juiz titular da 4ª VT de Maceió, Valter Pugliesi, representando a Associação Nacional dos Magistrados da Justiça do Trabalho (Anamatra); e o juiz Sérgio Roberto de Melo Queiroz, presidente da Associação dos Magistrados do Trabalho da 19ª Região (Amatra XIX).
Comenda - A Comenda foi criada no dia 02 de junho de 1993 - ano do centenário de morte do ministro Silvério Fernandes de Araújo Jorge - autoridade escolhida pelo TRT/AL para dar nome ao evento por conta de sua brilhante trajetória profissional e dos seus relevantes serviços prestados à magistratura. O ministro nasceu em Maceió no dia 17 de julho de 1817. Bacharelou-se em Ciências Jurídicas e Sociais pela Academia Jurídica de São Paulo. Foi nomeado promotor público de Maceió, exercendo a função até 1845. Foi juiz municipal e de órfãos nas cidades de Penedo, Traipu e Maceió entre 1848 e 1850. Em julho de 1868, foi nomeado 1º vice-presidente da Província das Alagoas, assumindo a presidência no dia 27 de julho de mesmo ano. Em junho de 1872, foi nomeado desembargador do Tribunal de Relação do Maranhão. Foi nomeado ministro do então Supremo Tribunal de Justiça no dia 23 de fevereiro de 1887.

On a very warm June afternoon, residents of Plainfield, a southwest suburb of Chicago, and surrounding locales joined together for a short march to celebrate Juneteenth and to raise their collective voice against what they perceived as racial injustice. The march began at Plainfield Central High School and tracked near the downtown area before gathering in Settlers Park next to the village hall. Once there, the remaining hour was spent in listening and reflection upon the words of people from the community, a religious leader, and local musicians. According to my best estimate, well over 300 people showed up, many with their families and young children.

This image reminds me of me when I was taking martial art lessons from this really tough Korean instructor.... the big guy here reminds me of him and the little one reminds me of me about thirty-seven years ago.... LOLL
He was big on teaching about respect. He believed that children and young adults were not very respectful in this country and he spent a lot of time talking about it. He felt children here are spoiled and always think of themselves first. That was a theme of his. Well of course, because he came from a country and culture where respect wasn't even a choice... it was a tradition. Wonderful lessons he shared with me... in class... at work and over lunch.... many times I'm not sure I even agreed with him... but today.... 37 years later, I do. He freely gave me so much time and effort.... and now, I can honestly say, he was never wrong and always had my best interest at heart - for all of his students; though, I'm the one he handed the school to when he retired.
Great stuff. As I ponder it now, I wish I would have even given him more respect. He deserved it.
This image really depicts the student/teacher relationship perfectly. I was the ears: he was the voice. He talked: I listened. He gave me answers before I had questions. And, when I was too young or wrong, he hammered me on that...... he was tough. He wanted people to listen. He wanted them to learn..... and then, he suddenly retired from teaching and any chances of my learning with him were suddenly gone.... or for that matter.... even knowing him. He just pulled away..... from all of us. It was really shocking.
As much as I loved and respected him.... I wish I had given him even more.... worked even harder.
Now, 37 years later I've taught thousands of students and hear myself thinking just like him................... and proud of it! :) He was indeed a great teacher and I see how fortunate I was to have trained with him. A teacher like him is something to cherish forever.
It's always good for the fruit on the branches to reflect on its roots.
