I've only got a few butterflies shots so far this this year and when I have seen them, it was just the odd one. I do hope we get some more before summer is over for this year.
Cockpit interior.
The Hokkaido Resource Conglomerate's Maguro is a light, single-crewed vessel tasked with scouting and sampling asteroids for potential future mining operations.
This ship was very much inspired by the Expanse series, as well as classic 70s era sci fi art by the likes of Peter Elson, Angus McKie, Chris Foss, etc. and more recently Paul Pepera (RIP).
Many acknowledgements are due for this build which has been ongoing since late last year. The usual WACKLug cronies for never hesitating to offer an opinion, in particular Jeff for color observations, Zach for the usage ideas for 1x1 tiles w/ clip, and Andrew for inadvertently introducing the seed part in an old Bricks and Beer episode. Most especial thanks to Nick for encouraging me to take my time, not rush things, and making me want to be a better spaceship builder.

Amager Resource Center is an incinerator placed in Amager near Copenhagen centrum. The roof of the building is an artificial ski slope, where it will be possible to ski all year round. Amager Resource Center is also known as: ARC, CopenHill and Amager Bakke. The building is designed by the Danish group of architects: Bjarke Ingels Group, often referred to as BIG.
The LEGO model is built in scale 1:200.
I’m a part of a group of LEGO fans from different parts of the world who have been building LEGO models of buildings designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). Some of the buildings (including my model of Amager Resource Center) will be exhibited in LEGO House in Billund from April 20 – May 13, 2018.
Being a substitute teacher is like starting a new job, every day. I’m at different schools, with different grades, in different subjects. Sometimes, I’m not even in a traditional classroom. A few weeks ago, I was a “roving teacher” and today I was a “resource specialist.” I’ll be honest, I accepted the job thinking this was a librarian. I was stoked to spend the day with hundreds of books. After accepting, I thought to Google the term and discovered that it is a teacher in special education. I was okay with that, too. I was looking forward to working with individual and small groups of students for the day. When I got to the elementary school, I found out that the job was filling in for the Physical Education/Computers teacher. Thank goodness there was no P.E. in the day’s schedule because I certainly wasn’t dressed appropriately. Every day is full of surprises as a substitute teacher!

So this was a surprise bird for me today not just because it's early in the year to see a Scaup, but that it turned out to be an even better bird that I first thought. See, there are two separate species of Scaup: Greater and Lessor. And to me personally, they look VERY similar. So similar in fact that I pretty much automatically assume every Scaup I see is a Lesser –as they tend to be more common in my area. The differences between the two are so subtle I'd actually have a hard time describing them to anyone. So as I've done almost without question for years, I assumed this bird was a Lesser Scaup as well. But in cropping a couple of my photos and and enhancing them a bit, I started to question whether this one COULD be a Greater. I would rarely think of what I did next, but I decided to search ebird.org for results on Greater Scaup in the area I saw this bird and found indeed that a handful of other birders had also reported it as a Greater! So I'm pretty happy to say that I feel like I gained a little bit of new birder ID skills today. In addition I received some additional ID tips from the local birding community over facebook, which I have not been using in quite some time. I'd forgotten what a good resource that fb group can be.
I have always had problems photographing this because there are usually children playing in the area. Today I thought that my luck had changed but when I entered into the park-playground area I encountered a number of homeless people and as it would have been impossible not to include them in my photographs I decided that I should leave it until another day.
The Old Church of St. George, commonly called "Little George's" in Hill Street (formerly Temple Street Lower) Parish of St. Mary, Dublin was built in 1668 by the Eccles family for their workmen and also as a chapel-of-ease to the nearby St. Mary's Church. However, that St. Mary's Church was not St. Mary's Church, Dublin as its foundation stone was laid in 1700, and it was not St. Mary's Abbey, Dublin as it was dissolved in 1539. Therefore St George's church, Hill Street, may have been a Chapel-of-Ease to St. Michan's Church in Church Street.
The Tower of the old church is now in the Dublin City area, but in the past it was probably said to be in the Drumcondra area, the same as the New Church. The tower of the church is now classed as a "Protected Structure". The entrance was below an old square steeple or tower, about 40 feet in height. The interior of the tower is small and was adorned with a few monuments. The communion-table was in a recess at the eastern end lit by a large circular-headed window, with a monument to the memory of Lady Galbraith on its south side. In the west over the entrance was a small, badly lit gallery.
Richard Kirwan died in June 1812 aged 79 years and was buried in Old St George Church, where Mr. Pope, his butler, was buried a few years later in the same grave. Francis Tempest Brady, the father of the Lord Chancellor, and was also buried in the grave-yard.

The Centre is funded by Government agencies: Family Support Agency, HSE, Pobal, and supported through local resources which include Dublin City Council, the CDVEC Adult Education, Catholic Youth Council and The Irish Youth Foundation.
