Say goodbye
Not knowing when
The truth in my whole life began
Say goodbye
Not knowing how to cry
You taught me that
And I'll remember
The strength that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember
The way that you saved me
I'll remember
Inside I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing
Outside I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing
A place belongs forever to whoever claims it hardest, remembers it most obsessively, wrenches it from itself, shapes it, renders it, loves it so radically that he remakes it in his own image.
Joan Didion
An image scanned from one of my colour slides and taken way back in 1976 - yes, we actually did have cameras back then and colour film - Champs-Élysées looking towards the Arc de Triomphe.
Workers via the Works Progress Administration (WPA) built these structures in Richfield County Park, the first county park in Genesee County at the time, beginning in 1938. They are still standing and going strong. They attract light-chasers for many events, especially senior high school pictures and weddings. I like taking them in b/w, an ode to their time and a way to remember the efforts of the WPA workers and especially like the early and late day light that casts shadows on the river and structures.
Der Hohe Ifen, einer der markantesten Berge in den Allgäuer Alpen ist 2230m hoch und liegt in Kleinwalsertal. Mit der Ifenbahn fährt man gemütlich hoch oder wandert nach oben, je nachdem.
Once upon a time the U.S. Senate was rightfully known as the "world's greatest deliberative body." Its members served our country with courage and honor and commitment to the principles enshrined in our Constitution. They were patriots. They had character we could always count on. That was then. Remember when.....if you can.

Founded in 1860, Graceland Cemetery is a beautiful 120-acre “garden cemetery” on Chicago’s North Side, incorporating trees, lakes, terraced lawns and paths into its landscape design, creating a park-like atmosphere. It is the final resting place for numerous notable Chicagoans, including Marshall Field, Cyrus McCormick, George Pullman and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Being a Chicago Cubs fan, I made it a point when I was there this month to visit the gravesite of Ernie Banks, a Hall of Fame Major League baseball player who played 19 seasons for the Cubs beginning in 1953. Banks was the Cubs’ first African-American player and is regarded as one of the greatest Cubs players of all time.
Banks' dedication to the team along with his ebullient nature earned him the nickname “Mr Cub,” both during and after his playing career. For his contribution to sports, Banks was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. Ernie Banks died of a heart attack in 2015 a week before his 84th birthday.
The war memorial at Freshwater West, Pembrokeshire. The Celtic Cross was put in place to remember those from the local area who had died or gone missing during WW1. It will soon be time across the UK to remember those who gave their lives in conflicts across the globe. Be sure to spare a minute..
I noticed today it is nine months since I posted a picture of my favourite boat. How time flies. This was from may 2019 when I spent a few days in the Scottish Highlands.
Last May (2019) I spent some time in the Scottish Highlands which meant I had to go and see my favourite boat; the MV Dayspring.
Here she is shot in sunny weather with Ben Nevis in the background. She has been in this position since she foundered during a bad storm on December 8th 2011 on the shore near Corpach in the Scottish Highlands. The tide has never been high enough since to re-float the boat so she remains here stuck on land rotting away. She is still privately owned.
You all know how I love to photograph this boat. It is a sad but beautiful sight to me. I have become very attached to this boat. To me it has become part of the landscape here.
Here is some of her history

I CRIED FOR YOU by Katie Melua
WHISPERS
Whisper to me the sounds of Spring; comfort me with flowers
and every lovely little thing will fade away like sea mist
on the breeze of memories and longing for a soft sweet kiss;
belonging in the arms of someone that you love
and watching gentle raindrops slowly trickle down the window
and gently touch the hand that holds yours in the night;
caressing in sweet slumber the one who brings you peace
and waking in the windswept morning that follows every storm
you find a pillow dented where once his head had lain;
a comforting reminder that all was not a dream
he left before the dawning, but did so without knowing
he fell so deeply into sleep; you never saw it coming
now walk the beach alone; your footprints on the sand,
but feel a touch upon your shoulder where once his hand had been; the sea air settles salt upon the lips that once met his
and tastes of moonlight kisses and dances in the dusk
barefeet swirling softly across the sands of time
a bird flies by your face brushing wing against your cheek
where once he held your face in hands
that promised to be with you until the end of time,
but no-one tells the future what it can and cannot do,
so we seize each precious moment and try to make it last
then we do the best that we can do to leave things in the past
until one morning it is over; this bleakness that you felt;
the sunshine paints a pretty picture; the heartache starts to melt
and you come back again to life with vigour in your step
and look at dusty photographs of that moment when you met,
but now you can let go because you know it's time to carry on
and move on down the future line where he'll always be a part of you until your dying day, but leave until tomorrow; don't give yourself away; take time to be yourself and know that love will come your way again when roses are in flower; blooming pink like candyfloss and counting down the hours;
he'll watch you and protect you and bless you with his love,
but don't forget who lay the stone foundations of your heart;
who waited while you flowered within this solid home
where love resides and never dies; where tenderness lives on;
the legacy he gave to you, you can now pass that along
to the one who waits so silently until he knows you're ready
to begin again and give your heart and know that deep inside
the love you lost and mourned was not the end, but just the start.

November is the time to be thankful, a time to remember and to embrace those who enrich our lives. I’m thankful for a lot of things, but I’m most thankful for you.

to be some things thats going
to make it hard to smile.
But what ever you do
through all the rain and the

sense of humor, you got to
smile for me
REMEMBER THAT
“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.” ~ Yoko Ono
In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. ~Albert Camus
I thought I would dig thru the archives a bit….I was trying to remember what summer felt like!
Que porqué la primera vez es la mejor? Porqué es la que se recuerda.... Quien lo sabe....
Esta es mi primera Via Láctea y aún recuerdo el día.

I am still experimenting with AI in combination with my own photos. In this one the woman was created in DDG and then used as the input image for Wombo to create two photos which were merged. Elements from my own photos were included and everything was further manipulated in both Topaz and Photoshop.

Remember the warm and long days of summer, when you could stay out until sunset around 9pm. We can now only enjoy them through the photographs we shot then, awaiting summer again!

We've hit the late autumn "gray" in Michigan, so that leads me to looking back at brighter days, like this one at Dow Gardens in Midland, MI, summer, 2024. I miss the greater prevalence of butterflies and hope those days return, too.
i found this picture left on my PC and remember the first try with abandoneds, since my childhood locations like this are fascinating for me
If I tell you my favorite color
And not be able to see it
Will you describe it to me
And always remember
If you hear the word I use the most
And I become forgetful
Will you speak it
And always remember
If I kiss you
And distance comes between us
Will you kiss me back
And always remember
If I don’t know the answer
And my mind reaches its limit
Will you help me find it
And always remember
If I am lost in this world
And can’t find my way
Will you get lost with me
And always remember
… my love.

I like that once summer is over, I'll have all these pictures to remember it by when I'm cold and the winter darkness seems to last forever. It's important to always have hope for the next spring and summer. :)
Remember a Day

Remember a day before today
A day when you were young.
Free to play alone with time
Evening never came.
Sing a song that can't be sung
Without the morning's kiss
Queen - you shall be it if you wish
Look for your king
Why can't we play today
Why can't we stay that way
Climb your favorite apple tree
Try to catch the sun
Hide from your little brother's gun
Dream yourself away
Why can't we reach the sun
Why can't we blow the years away
Blow away
Blow away
