I think this one looks much better than the other Kawasaki Rose which starts with folding the four corners.
The rose is folded with a piece of 7x7cm notepad paper.
This is a red peony blossom from my sister's garden in Durham, North Carolina. While we were there, it seemed as if everything was in bloom.
Strobist info (for those who are interested). Because we were away from home I did not have all of the gear that I would normally use at home. There was no light stand, mounting kit nor a large soft box. Specifically for this kind of situation. I had recently purchased a small 8.6 inch square softbox called the Lastolite EZbox. It's small, light weight, very well made and attaches directly to the flash instead of an adapter ring. It contains two inner baffles which provide good diffusion. It's so small and light weight that it's easy to hand hold if the camera is on a tripod. It also folds up easily for storage and portability. For this shot, I hand held a YN560 attached to the Lastolite softbox, camera left, at 9 o'clock, about 4 inches from the flower. The flash was in manual mode, and was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N. For fill light, my sister hand held a silver reflector disk at the right side. These boxes sell new for around $80. The flash can be purchased new for around $50. A pair of Yongnuo triggers which act as both trigger and receiver sell for around $33 or $16.50 each. This is pretty inexpensive by photography standards.
Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422
I saw this little fellow close to the trail I was cycling on. Initially I thought it was a dog but decided it was a juvenile red fox.
These red foxes are part of an extended family. Two vixens had litters a few weeks apart, and they share two den sites about a hundred meters apart. Their two litters are mixed at each den site.
The adults are still shedding their winter coats in June, so they look rather ratty, but the cubs have full, soft, red coats.
They feed primarily on Columbian ground squirrels, with a few birds, voles and trout for variety.
Remember Tina, the Rida I bought a while ago? I finally bought her a wig.
I was a bit disappointed at first because the wig looked way more red on Luts website, but I'm getting used to and I kinda like it.
I may change her eyes though, as the wig is lighter than I expected.
Anyway, I'm happy she has hair now ♥
My Summer Seas Ariel 11 1/2'' collector doll has been fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by the included doll stand, with the clamshell base. Her hair has been freed from the red plastic mesh backing, but the three large side curls are hanging rather loose. From the front they made a hidden Mickey. Most of her medium length red hair has been styled into a flat wavy ponytail that sits sideways behind her left shoulder, and is made very stiff with hair product, as is most of the rest of her hair. She is photographed from various angles, under diffused natural light, except for the last photo in this series.
My Summer Seas Ariel doll, released in 2000. She is a Disney Collector Doll, produced by Mattel. She was the first doll in the Enchanted Seasons Collection. Here she is photographed boxed. The box is dented in several places in the plastic window, but is intact. The doll herself is in perfect condition. She comes with a golden sun pendant, a doll stand, a Certificate of Authenticity, a warranty and a reply card.
Here is the text of the box notes, which comes in the form of a poem:
As the Summer sun sparkles on bright, shiny seas,
and the segulls all dance on the warm ocean breeze;
sweet Ariel plays with the young happy fish,
and goes treasure-hunting for all she might wish:
like forks and small spoons that she wears in her hair,
as Summer adornments that go anywhere!
She's dressed for the season with flowers so fair,
and a coral-like hairpiece that brightens her hair!
But the best thing of all is the treasure she's found:
a golden sun pendant as bright as the dawn,
which shines with a Summer light, bright as the sky --
bringing sparkles of joy to sweet Ariel's eye!
My newly acquired Disney Collector Dolls, by Mattel. They are the Summer Seas Ariel (2000) and the Imperial Beauty Mulan (1998). Thanks to my Flickr friends UnbrokenSchiße and They Call Me Obsessed for suggesting that I get these beautiful dolls. It came up during the discussion of my latest Disney Collector Doll, the Aqua Fantasy Ariel (1997). I have two other Disney Collector Dolls, The Evil Queen and Maleficent, both part of the Great Villains Collection (1998).
